[49] "I'm Always Going To Be Here For You No Matter What."

{2:03 am} I SILENTLY OBSERVE AS THE nurse walks away and I sit there in the silence (the only thing making noise is the machines in the lab) as I stare blankly straight ahead, resting my hand on my stomach. Silent tears roll down my face as I take deep breaths and close my eyes. Suddenly, I'm engulfed in someone's arms and they whisper, "It's going to be okay." It takes me no time to realize that this beautiful, angelic voice belongs to my husband. "Ka-Kaiden," I whisper behind my tears as I throw my arms around his neck.

"I'm so sorry about what had happened while we were on our honeymoon," he whispers apologetically into my hair.

"I love you, Kaiden. I forgive you."

He tugs away from me and grips my face. "You don't how happy it makes me hearing those words from you," he informs softly. "I love you too." He presses his lips against mine and I smile against his lips.

Unfortunately, our kiss is cut short when the technician speaks up behind Kaiden. "You ready, Dezerae?"

Kaiden pulls away and I nod to the tech.

{2:09 am} Kaiden and I listen eagerly for a heartbeat, but the tech can't seem find one. "I'm so sorry," she apologizes, "but it seems you've had a miscarriage." I gasp softly as tears immediately spring to my eyes. I nod softly as she wipes the stuff off my stomach. "I'll give you and your husband a moment alone," she whispers before exiting the room.

Kaiden brushes his fingers through my hair before he presses his lips against my temple. "You know we can keep trying," he whispers softly into my ear.

"It-it hurts so-so mu-much," I whisper behind my tears.

"I know it does, baby," he whispers, gently stroking his thumb against my damp cheek. "I love you. I'm always going to be here for you no matter what."

I nod faintly, but the tears continue to fall. Kaiden presses his lips against mine. After several moments, he tugs away and helps me sit up.

Back at the room, Kaiden and Nurse Felicity help me move back to the bed and then Felicity leaves with the wheelchair. "So.  .  .?" Kaycie looks at me and I shake my head as I turn onto my side.

"She miscarried," I hear Kaiden reply softly.

"Sweetie, I'm sorry," I hear Kaycie apologize, rubbing my arm.

"It-it h-hur-hurts," I mutter behind my tears before biting my bottom lip and resting my left hand on my stomach.

My mom turns to me and provides me a faint, weak smile. "I think I'm going to go ahead and leave," she whispers. "Give y'all some alone time. I'll probably be asleep when y'all get home, so I'll see y'all in the morning." She kisses my cheek and then leaves.

I turn to my wife and sigh mutely. "Are you okay?" I whisper sitting down at the edge of the bed and rubbing her back soothingly.

She shakes her head as she continues to cry.

I sigh again as I continue to rub her back soothingly.

{3:13 am} "It's been quite an adventure since we've gotten home from the airport," Dezerae whispers, unbuckling her seatbelt. "I'm just ready to go inside and go to bed."

"I'm honestly surprised Devin and KJ didn't wake up when we first got home earlier," I reply softly.

She chuckles, but sniffles.
