Nadine let out a sigh as she stared at her now 30 page document. "Ang haba ng sinulat ko pero kulang pa," she muttered as she placed her fingers around her cup and took a quick sip of her latte.

Unable to think in both her office and her room, she opted to walk to a nearby cafe and finish her paperwork there.

Since the infamous ball, her work was mostly paperwork related or simply sending out emails to potential and current investors--a lot of wish she had the option of doing in their office, at home, or wherever else she pleased. She, of course, preferred to be away from the building and her father's business associates.

She figured that giving her work she can do outside was their way of apologizing for what had happened to her.

"Only took me being close to death, hmm?" she spat as she placed her fingers on her keyboard and began to furiously type.

Despite being skilled at writing papers, she struggled when it came to paperwork--perhaps because a lot of it had to do with matters she had no interest in.

It was then that her phone suddenly vibrated.

Smiling, she picked it up and eyed the name of the sender on her lockscreen.

James

She quickly brought her thumb to the circle pad and unlocked it.

Her face suddenly dropped as she read his message:

James: Don't forget your report is due in three days.

Nadine rolled her eyes at the reminder and began to type her reply.

Nadine: I know. No need to remind me, I would never forget a crucial due date.

James: Just doing what you asked.

Along with his text message was the screenshot of the conversation they had shared where she, as he said, asked him to remind her 3 days and 1 day prior.

Nadine's cheeks suddenly felt warm as she began to scroll up their conversation to find just where he got it from.

"Too many messages, it's hard to find," she grumbled. "How did he find it so quickly?"

Nadine: When was this?

James: A week ago. I had a feeling this would happen so I screenshotted it for proof.

She began to feel a little guilty for having replied so ungratefully. "It's not you I'm mad at, it's this damn write up," she grumbled.

James: Don't worry too much about this btw. Just focus on finishing it. I know you're just stressed out with writing it.

Nadine's eyes widened.

Nadine: How did you know?

James: I know you well enough by now. And you told me that you used to get mad at Janella sometimes when you were in college for doing the same thing.

"Oh right, I did tell him that," Nadine said aloud. "Teka, how does he know what I'm thinking?" she wondered as she glanced at the messages and realized his responses matched up to what she was thinking.

Her phone vibrated once again and her eyes widened as she read the message.

James: Have you ever realized you talked to yourself sometimes?

She brought her head up and turned around, the edges of her lip curving upward.

"Nagulat mo ako," she remarked.
