After the relaxation, Alex and the others went to Marty's pen to celebrate the male zebra's birthday. The three performers and the okapis had presents with them. But something was off with the okapis...especially with Magenta. She looked as if she was in deep shame. But Alex decided to worry about that later.

Marty had opened the presents for his friends and was happy. A black and white striped scarf from Tessa, a drawing from Cassidy, a birthday card from Ryan, and a huge painting of two Pokemon from the okapis.

"Whoo, it's Marty's birthday!" Gloria cheered. Everyone was surrounding Marty's little birthday party, but Magenta seemed to be isolating herself from everyone. Her eyes were glazed as her mind ran through the clouds when staring the painting the side Marty's pen. Saber seemed to be have noticed and made his way over to her.

Marty shook his last present, excited to see what's inside it. "Come on, open it up!" Ryan pushed, wanting to know what's inside. The male zebra lifted the box opened and saw what's inside. "Yeah!" he yelled. "Thermometer!" He picks up the thin object and smiles at Melman. "Thanks. I love it Melman, I love it!" He flips the thermometer and lands into his mouth. "Yeah, I wanted to give something personal." Melman said, just as Magenta and Saber made their way over to the group. "You know, that was my first rectal thermometer." The okapis were shocked at this piece of information as they turned to the male zebra to find him spitting the little thermometer out of his mouth.

Melman blows his party blower and he, Alex, Gloria, and Brandon had sang a song. "Happy birthday to you! You live in a zoo! You look like a monkey. Aaaaaand you smell like one too." Just hearing that part made one of the monkeys nearby spit out his tea. "I say..." he said shocked. Phil smells his armpits and falls off of the branch, knocked out by his own smell.

Sakura snickered in amusement when she felt Pinkie elbow her, making her silence her own laugh. "Let's go, let's make a wish!" Tessa cheered. She and Gloria held out a plate of chocolate cake and white frosting, sprinkled with fruit loops and gummy bears then topped with a number ten candle. Marty thought for a moment before blowing out the flame with his nose and then took a huge bite into the large party pastry.

Magenta trotted away from the group with Saber following right by her side. His sister's behavior and actions are worrying him. It didn't even settle down when Sakura and Pinkie, not even Alex,  are noticing this too. Noticing his expression, the pink okapi nuzzled him gently and the non-colored okapi returned it with a worry nuzzle.

"I wish...I could go...to the wild!"

"The wild?! Whoa!" Alex had fell off the fence before Sakura and Magenta came rushing to him to catch him. He dropped his steak when Pinkie caught it with her muzzle and Saber rushed over to them to help. Melman swallowed and chokes on his party blower, Tessa and Cassidy let out gasps, and Gloria and Ryan stayed silent with shocked looks. "I told you it was bad luck!" Marty shouts.

Gloria and Ryan were smacking the back of Melman's head to make him spit out the party blower out of his mouth as Cassidy and Tessa helped out Magenta and Sakura to pull Alex back up onto the fence. "The wild?! Are you nuts?!" Pinkie complained in shock. "That is the worst idea, I've ever heard." Alex added. When the two okapis, the lioness, and the rabbit finally pulled the male lion back up, the party blower had been spat out of the male giraffe's mouth. He coughed when Gloria and Ryan backed up to give him space to breathe. "It's unsanitary!" he wheezed, taking a huge deep breath.

"The penguins are going, so why can't I?" Marty asked. The okapis' ears went down in shock, but luckily it wasn't noticed. "The penguins are psychotic." Ryan replied. Magenta looked at her two sisters and little brother with a thought in her mind, and they nodded back after seemingly to have read her thought. "Come on! Just imagine going back to nature." Marty reasoned. Magenta was completely silent and Alex had finally noticed it. "Back to your roots, clean air, wide open spaces!" Marty said, excitedly. "Well I hear they had wide open spaces in Connecticut." Cassidy piped. The male zebra turned to the rabbit in curiosity. "Connecticut?" he asked. "Yeah, what you got to do is you gotta go to Grand Central Station." Melman explained. "And then you gotta take the metro north train." Sakura finished. Marty smiled with excitement as this piece of information had checked itself into his mind.

"So one could take the train? Just hypothetically." he primed. Saber watched the male zebra before trot back to the others as this information was registering in his mind. But when his red eyes saw Magenta trot over to the painting by Marty's pen, something had clicked into his mind and made his eyes widen yet sympathy plant itself into his heart. While the others are talking, he motioned his sisters over to Magenta the three of them trotted over to the pink okapi. They knew something was up with her and they want to know what's got her tangled up.

"Marty, come on! What would Connecticut have to offer us?" Alex asked. "Lyme disease." "Thank you, Melman and Ryan." The male lion responded to the giraffe and wolf. But the male zebra wasn't wanting to this no for an answer, but before he could ask again, he finally noticed the okapis talking to each other which caught the attention of the other animals. "Girls, Saber." Tessa's voice made the okapis turned to the animals in surprise. "Is everything okay?" Ryan asked. With a quick nod, the four siblings walked back over to the group but seeing Magenta getting back into her thoughts made Alex's suspicions go high. Sakura stole Alex's steak for a moment and turned to Marty. She holds it up and explains, "You certainly don't have this in the wild, this is the highly refined food thing you don't find in the wild." "You ever though it might be more to life than steak Sakura?" The warm colored okapi was shocked at those words and felt offended when Alex took the steak and held it close to his face. "He didn't mean that baby. No, no, no." The male lion whispered to his steak, not knowing Tessa was staring at the steak in anger.

"Doesn't it bother you guys that you don't know anything outside of the zoo?" Marty asked. The animals thought for moment and Ryan shook his head no while the answered, "No. No way. Nu uh. Mm mm. Nope." "Actually, I have a reason to say yes." The animals but three of the okapis looked Magenta in shock at her answer. They watched her walk over to Marty and the others followed her. Alex felt a ping of anger but he'll talk to them later. He has to deal with Marty first. "Well.. I mean..come on, that's just one subject." he primed. "You got a ah..you got a little smutz on yer..." He didn't finish when he ate his steak.

Marty and the okapis looked like their hearts had been crushed. The male zebra sighed and wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Thanks guys. Thanks for the party. It was great! Really." His words were laced in sadness and the okapis had turned then jumped over the fence. Tessa, Cassidy, and Ryan watched the four siblings retreat back to their area and then to their shelter where they sleep.

Alex seemed to have noticed and he finally realizes that something was up.
