•••Jack leads the way down the dark and cold hallway. Mainly because I'm scared out of my socks by that bump. We make it to the end of the hallway and Jack looks to his right, he gasps. Which almost makes me want to scream and run away like a baby. "What, what is it?" I whisper. "There is another light on, it's down the hallway." I jumped at another bang. Jack looked over at me. "What, scared of a little ghost are you?" He asked jokingly.
"No, I'm just scared of crazy axe murderers that kill dumb teens like you."
"And you, you're the one that agreed to come." I playfully hit him, then another bump jumped us out of our playful mood. "Lets go." Jack whispered. "Down there? Nope, you aren't taking me to my death." I refused.
"Fine, I'll go while you wait in the dark, alone, unarmed, with a crazy axe murderer somewhere..." Jack trailed off. "Ok fine! But I'm not the one to peer into that classroom." Jack agreed and we walked down the scary hallway. We finally got to the lit classroom and heard muffling sounds. As we got closer the muffling morphed into voices.
One of them sounded familiar. I then realized who the familiar voice belonged to. Jack seemed to know too, his face turned pale. We began to listen into the conversation that was going on in the classroom.
"I'm sorry, but we can't just take out heating for the school. It will probably send the health department running after us for making all the students sick!" One voice exclaimed. "Yes," A masculine voice followed after. "But this school is losing money. We need to do something to keep it up and running."
"Why don't we take away some extra curricular classes, you know, those classes like Drama and Newspaper." A female voice suggested. I looked at Jack, who was even paler now in the classroom light. He looked away. "What are we going to do?" I asked. "Newspaper helps people grow in relationship. The school teachers can't just take it away." I complained.
"Well," Jack answered. "I think that if Newspaper and Drama don't get a lot of people interested in it..." He trailed off, making me remember how little people are interested when it comes to signing up for Newspaper.
"You're right, that's why we should start campaigning for Newspaper and Drama class. To help people be aware that we aren't the biggest classes." Jack agreed. Then we heard the teachers start to argue and decided that was our queue to get out of the school. We ran toward the front doors and burst into the fresh air.
"Well, we got the info we needed." Jack said, shivering to the bones. "Oh, gosh, sorry." I said and slipped Jack's jacket off. I handed it to him and he took it. "Thanks." He said and put the jacket on. "No problem."
"Anyways, we shouldn't tell anyone about what we've heard today." "Right." I agreed. "Well, I'll see you Monday." Jack said. "Yeah, see you Monday." And we parted ways.
