She was hurt obviously, she hadn't seen it coming, especially after what Echo had done to his sister, Octavia.
Bellamy. He might as well have just gone and put a sword through his sisters back. For the time that Echo had come into their life, she had been nothing but trouble. Clarke knew that. She had left, not warning anyone about the attack on mount weather that got Gina killed. She killed ruthlessly.
But during Praimfaya, Clarke really thought maybe she could change, maybe she would realise what she had done and end her merciless ways. Maybe she had done exactly that. After six years on the ring a lot could've changed. Bellamy obviously saw something in her for him to completely disregard his sisters opinion - even if he had not known it at the time.
But it was clear now that Octavia did not like Echo, she loathed her. Clarke however wanted to loath her as well, but she had no reason too. If Echo spoke to her, what was she supposed to say if she questioned her distant and hatred filled attitude. She couldn't. It wouldn't make sense.
So when Clarke saw Bellamy hurriedly scan each rover for Echo, she couldn't help but feel her heart break inside. She watched as they kissed, and Bellamy clung onto Echo as if she was his whole life. Clarke had that once, with Lexa. They loved each other, more than Clarke thought she could love anyone. But she was wrong, she could love more, and she did. But she never got the chance to tell him, because at every opportunity she got, she also lost. And when she finally realised as the rocket shot into the atmosphere, she was too late.
So now here she stood, watching from the distance as the man she loved, kissed and fell in love with another woman that wasn't Clarke.

She sat in her makeshift tent that night, stroking the Madi's hair as she silently slept, the image of Bellamy and Echo engraved in her mind. It had been a weight on her shoulders the whole day. She sighed as she got up, making sure to shut the piece of material that gave both Madi and herself a little privacy for their part of the tent. She collapsed onto her bed, eyebrows creasing like they usually would when she was thinking hard about something.
It had been nearly impossible to keep her mind off of everything that had happened within a day. Six years of peace, just her and Madi, then Eligius shows up, then Bellamy, everything happened too fast. She was prepared for it, expecting it even, after years of training with Madi, she knew what was coming. But she still never expected any of this to happen. Bellamy with Echo, Octavia as Bloodreina, but by now, she should've been used to it, the constant feeling of being drained emotionally and physically by the unexpected.
The rush of cool air filled the tent and Clarke gasped as Bellamy entered. His eyes roamed around seeming to be looking for something before landing one her. She was taken aback as he slowly made his way towards her, taking slow and careful steps, making Clarke back up into her bed. Another gasp escaped her lips as she watched Bellamy place himself right in front of her, eyeing her up and down.
She felt nearly uncomfortable at the sudden closeness of him, but knowing Bellamy, he wouldn't try anything.
Gathering her composure, Clarke coughed before speaking. "Everything okay?"
She knew something was definitely wrong, guessing by the look Bellamy's features held. He was confused, that she knew. But what about? She didn't know.
That was something they both had in common, they were both able to read each other's emotions, what we were feeling. So by just once glance at Bellamy Clarke knew something was worrying him.
"Bellamy?"
She called his name once more, seeming to snap him out of his thoughts. He glanced at her before averting his gaze somewhere onto the ground.
"What are we doing, Clarke?" The way he said it was almost as if he was pleading. The words came out in a silent whisper and Clarke tried to make sense of his words.
"What are you talking about?" her brows knitted in confusion as she continued, "what are we doing?"
He ran a hand through his hair, as if he was having trouble finding the right words. "Clarke..." he whispered, almost seemingly frustrated by the lack of sense making it out of his mouth.
Clarke noticed something new with Bellamy. Ever since they had gotten down from the ring, there was one thing Clarke could tell wasn't right. The way he would run a hand through his hair, he did it more often and only whenever he was frustrated.
"Bellamy... you're worrying me, what's wrong?" she asked. The way his hand seemed to twitch in nervousness, only added to Clarke's concern for the boy. In her time of knowing him, he would often feel conflicted about some things, but never to the point of being speechless.
The look Clarke gave him seemed to calm him enough to finally sigh before speaking. "What the hell is this? We both can't keep ignoring it, okay? Not when every five seconds we're taking glances and giving me that sweet smile of yours... so please, what are we doing?" He seemed to relax a small amount after getting it all out, but Clarke could tell he was still anxious for her reaction.
Clarke knew exactly what he meant, but saying so would only damage their relationship. "Bellamy get straight to the point, I don't understand what-."
"Clarke," Bellamy cut in, wanting to make his point clear, "do you love me?"
Her eyes grew wide. Being put on the spot like that, made her nervous.
Yes. She wanted to say, but she couldn't. She needed to find a way out of this.
"I- I... don't..." she sighed before regaining her composure, "of course I do, you're my best friend Bellamy."
He only seemed to get more frustrated by those words, and her heart stung as his pained expression regrew. "Clarke... no," he sighed.
Just when it seemed he would turn around, he took the final step in between them and brought his lips to hers. It wasn't nearly as rough as she always thought it would be kissing Bellamy, instead it was gentle.
After a long period of no response on her half, Bellamy began to pull away. Only to have their lips brought back together by Clarke. He hummed in contentment and brought his hands to lazily lay on her hips. Clarke smiled into the kiss, as he began tracing small circles with his thumbs, bringing them up and taking her shirt up with them.
"I love you, you're a great friend Clarke." he pulled away for a second so he could smile at her, but that only seemed to piss her off.
She pulled away before flashing him a grin and walking towards the tent door. "You know, I haven't seen Raven in a while, she and I were pretty close too you know. I think I might go kiss her too."
Bellamy was quick to react, he grabbed onto her arm before she could get away and pulled her back to him. Clarke stared up into his eyes as he ran his hand down her face, shivering at the tingling sensation it gave her.
"I love you," she whispered.
Bellamy smiled at this, knowing she meant more than friends.
"I'm in love with you."
