3. Seven Seconds
Was he crazy? Should she pretend that she did not know that he was following her? But what if something bad happened. Maybe it was better not to pretend? She should just try her best to get away from him. It was better to be safe than sorry.
Mulki took off her high heels since they were slowing her down. It was a shame that she did do not wear more comfortable shoes. She walked faster, now that she was barefoot. After a few moments, she looked back. Anwar also walked faster. Then she started running and looked back. He started running. He was crazy. Mulki turned down another corner. Surely, he was not going to follow her.
She looked back. He was still following her. He even smiled at her. She felt sick to her stomach.
Suddenly, Mulki felt him grab her and she screamed. "Let go of me!" She screamed as she struggled to free herself.
"Mulki, why are you running away from me? I did not even do anything. You know you have a such a beautiful body? You should not be so shy. Have more confidence."
Mulki pushed him. "Anwar, get away from me."
Anwar put his hand to his chest, "Why are you so nervous? I did not do anything to you. I was just trying to show my interest in you."
"I am sorry. I have to go home." Mulki said as she looked at the ground.
Anwar sneered at her, "No way. We are going to hang out. You are not going anywhere. Samira already told me that you were easy, so you don't need to pretend."
She narrowed her eyes, "We have nothing to talk about."
Mulki was so shocked. This guy was sick. What should she do?
He laughed at her. "You must be joking. Girls always want me. I know that I look good. I can tell that you are new around here, so I will let that go. You are going to be my new girlfriend."
"I'm sorry. I can't."
She looked past Anwar to see Mohamed standing there.
"And I would appreciate it, if you let go of her," Mohamed said with his voice low and dangerous, as he walk towards them with that confidence in his aura.
Anwar scoffed. "Man, this is none of your business."
Suddenly, Mohamed punched Anwar so hard that Anwar stumbled back. "Leave before you irritate me."
Anwar stepped back. "Bastard." He left.
Mulki breathed out a sigh of relief. Anwar was gone. She leaned back against the wall and slid down to the ground.
"Are you okay?" Mohamed asked her.
Mulki looked up at Mohamed. She had only just met him tonight, but he had helped her now. She was so grateful. She had no idea why he helped her, but she
was so grateful. "Thank you so much Mohamed."
Mohamed reached his hand out to her. "Come one. Get up."
Mulki hesitated as she stared at his hand. Why was she nervous in a different way? Before she would swear that she felt so comfortable with him. Why was she nervous? That was silly. She shrugged it off and took his hand. He lifted her up to the ground easily.
"Thank you again." Mulki said as she brushed her dress with her hand.
He grinned, "No problem. I can't stand Anwar anyway. I don't think that he wanted to fight with me again."
"Again?" Mulki blinked.
Mohamed laughed, "Let's just say that Anwar and me are not friends."
Mulki nodded. "There is something wrong with that guy."
