11. Don't Be Like Him
The danger with getting revenge is that it might turn you into the person that you hate.
They all went to the hospital to see Yasin. And Mulki felt sick when she saw the younger boy. His face was swollen, with black eyes, a broken nose, bleeding lip and his arm was broken. Mulki could tell that Mohamed was furious and his friends seemed to range between anger and sadness.
"What happened?" Omar asked.
Yasin tried to sit up then gasped in pain. Naciima picked up the pitcher of water and filled a cup then handed it to the boy. Yasin blushed at the kindness of the concerned girl. He took a few sips before he started talking.
"I was walking home when I saw them. One of them, pointed at me. I knew from their uniform that they were from Banadir Academy, so I already knew they wanted to fight. But it was 5 of them and I was alone. I tried walking in the other way, but then they ran after me. Then-" He stuttered trying to find better words.
Omar smirked, "You ran away?"
Yasin glared at him, "I was alone. I am not an idiot. I can't fight 5 guys by myself. Do I look crazy like Mohamed? Of course, I ran away. What did you expect me to do?"
"Omar, leave him alone, " Naciima chided.
"So what happened next?" Mulki asked softly and everyone turned to glance at her. She moved closer to Mohamed.
"Who's that?" Yasin blinked then shook his head. "Never mind. They chased me for two blocks but I ran down the wrong street. I was not thinking. I forgot about the new train tracks, and that stupid train decided to be there the same time as me. I had nowhere to run."
"I'm going to kill them." Mohamed growled.
Hawaya clapped her hands, "Finally, we have to get revenge."
Awil scoffed, "We?"
"You can't leave me behind."
Omar rolled his eyes, "No girls allowed."
Hawaya put her hands on her hips, "I can fight way better than Omar. He is just going to run away like he always does. Besides this is Student Council Business. You are not even in the Blue Class. It is our job to protect the students at Blue Ocean High School."
"What?" Mulki covered her mouth when she realized that she had said aloud.
Mohamed ran his fingers through his curls in frustration, "Anyway it has been a long night. We need to all get home. We will discuss this in the morning."
Everyone said goodbye to Yasin then they split up into pairs and groups then they headed home. Not surprisingly, Mohamed still insisted on walking Mulki home. She did not protest since she did not know his friends.
"Well, you have interesting friends." Mulki commented.
"Yea, they are."
"I feel bad for Yasin. He seems like a nice kid. No one deserves to be hurt like that. Why is Banadir Academy doing this?"
Mohamed shrugged his shoulder, "It's a long story."
"What happened?"
"Well, it started last year. During the elections. There was a boy named Ayanle. He was the younger brother of the last school President named Ibrahim. Ibrahim was a great President. But Ayanle assumed that since his older brother had been President that he would automatically win. When I won instead. Ayanle was pissed. He transferred to Banadir Academy and became their President."
