I held my breath as I heard a door open, not knowing if it was my parents or not. I heard a voice that I did not know call out my name. The voice came closer as the person or thing came into my room. It was a male voice, but not my dad's. My dad has a soft, tender voice, and works until 9 in the evening. It was only 10am.

"Lucy, come out. I won't hurt you."

The voice came from just outside the closet and I backed up until I felt the wall behind my back.
"I know where you're hiding." I heard the closet door open. There was a male figure. I was hiding behind some clothes, so the figure didn't see me, at least that's what I thought.
He grabbed me by my left arm and pulled me into the light.

I didn't get a very long look at the man, I only saw that he had blonde hair and blue eyes, then I snapped back into reality and heard, "Lucy. Lucy, wake up. Lucy!" The man faded away and I found myself laying in my bed, mom and dad at the end of it.

"You're soaked in sweat. Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I guess I'm alright, I just had a bad dream."

"Alright. Well, now that you're awake, let's go downstairs for breakfast."

  "Okay."

My mom, my dad, the dream. It all felt so real... I know my parents are real but the dream... I thought as my parents and I walked downstairs.

I ignored my mom putting breakfast in front of me and told my parents, "I'm going to go check on Philip."

I ran outside to check on Philip before my parents could ask why.

"There you are buddy ol' pal," I said when I saw him in the stables, I pet his mane and said, "I don't know what I would do without you, Philip. I had the worst dream last night about something killing you. Possibly a wolf." I hugged his neck then fed him a carrot, giving him fresh water and hay before heading back to the house.

"Why in the world were you checking on Philip without eating breakfast? I know you love him lots but-" My dad asked as I walked in the door. I could tell he wasn't mad, just confused. I don't want to tell them, but I know they might be able to help me forget about it, so I told them.

"Goodness me, is that why you were so sweaty?"

"Yeah, that's the reason why I went to check on Philip without eating breakfast."

There was an awkward silence before dad broke the silence and said, "Lucy, why don't you go on your normal route for your ride with Philip. Keep your mind off the nightmare."
"Ok, will do." I went upstairs to change, then brushed my hair, and went outside to saddle Philip.

I got up onto Philip's saddle and we rode through the normal route we usually take, like my dad said. I automatically cheered up when I sat on his saddle.

We were about 10 minutes in when Philip sniffed the air, turned around, and trotted back to the stables. I looked at where Philip was headed, and sure enough, mom was there holding a carrot. I figured she wanted to talk, knowing she does this only when she needs to talk.

I put Philip back in the stables and gave him the carrot that I got from mom after putting him in the stables. I then went inside with mom and dad.

"So about school," she paused for a second, "school starts tomorrow and we were thinking maybe your father could take you. We thought to ask you since there is also a bus. And because we thought you wouldn't want your father driving you there since your a 'big girl now'."

We all chuckled at that. When I was younger, I would always tell my father, "I'm a big girl! You don't need to drive me to school anymore!" and put on a pretend pouty face.

I said that he could drive me since I grew out of that phase and enjoy him driving me to school now.  "Then it's settled." My dad smiled and told me to go get in the car for back-to-school shopping.
