There was a loud neigh. The neigh of a scared or dying horse. Philip! I ran outside and saw one of the wolves cornering Philip. I grabbed a stick and was about to hit the wolf with the stick when someone grabbed me by my hands and pulled me back. I turned around to face a calm face, two calm faces actually. Max and my dad. I turned to look at Philip and saw the wolf lunge at him. I got loose from Max and dad's grip and just before the wolf attacked him, or so I thought, I hit the wolf in the head with the stick I was holding.
I rushed over to Philip to make sure he was ok. I let out a cry when I found out that the wolf hadn't been lunging at Philip for the first time, he was making sure Philip was dead from the first time he attacked.
Gone. Both Philip and my grandma were gone. The only thing left of my grandma, gone. He was gone for real, never coming back. I cried and ran to the house passing Max and my dad, I didn't look at them, I didn't look at Philip, I just ran on for what seemed like forever until I got into my bedroom. I thought of my nightmare as I laid on my bed and cried. Then, still slightly crying, looked out the window and saw a different wolf than the one that attacked Philip, bowing his head like he was sad or disappointed. He was like the one I saw last night, white with blue eyes like the night sky.
A few hours later I felt a little better and went downstairs for dinner, my face red and puffy. I almost made it all the way when I realized I probably look like a mess and went back up to my bathroom and got cleaned up real quick. I then went downstairs and sat at the dinner table.
"Hey Lucy. I- I'm really sorry about Philip.." Bella rubbed my back as she hugged me.
"It's fine. I-I'll be fine."
Max came over and gave me a hug too. They were amazing people so far in the few hours I've known them. We ate dinner, then went to bed. Max, Bella and I all slept on the floor. They urged me to sleep on my bed but I still slept with them.
I woke up to Bella shaking me like a crazy person.
"What time is it?"
"6:30. Time to get up."
I groaned. "Just 5 more minutes." She giggled and I got up and got ready, smiling and forgetting about last night's events.
I finished getting ready and walked downstairs, everybody was sitting at the table eating breakfast when I came down. I sat down at the table and my mom got up to make me a plate. No one talked about what happened last night since I was happy, and as long as I was happy they were fine with that.
"How did you sleep?" My mom asked me as she handed me breakfast and sat down.
"I could have slept better but I'll survive." I said as I ate and finished my breakfast 5 minutes later.
"Come on let's get you guys to school since Lucy's done eating." We went out to the car, got in, and drove to school.
When we got to school, I walked to class trying not to to think of the events of last night. Just trying to stay happy.
When I got to class, I sat in my seat and tried to pay attention to the teacher. I could feel the boy study me. I tried to focus on my teacher but couldn't so I just let my thoughts take over. The bell rang and I rushed out to walk to science when I felt a hand touch my shoulder.
"Hey, I'm sorry about pushing you yesterday." I turned to face the guy who was talking to me.
  "I'm Connor by the way."
I ignored him, shrugging his hand off of my shoulder, and walked to science class.
I sat behind Bella and, since these teachers let us do what we want, looked up at the ceiling, thinking. I felt like it had been my fault. I had the dream and it had happened, just not in the woods. No other horse will replace you Philip, I'll forever miss you. I thought until Bella broke my thoughts.
  "Hey, you ok Lucy?"
I looked at Bella and answered with, "I'll be fine, Philip's in a better place now. And as long as I have you and Max, my mom and dad, I could never be sad for long."
I smiled at her as she pulled out a small box with horse wrapping paper and an envelope taped to the top.
"Open it."
  "It's not my birthday thou-"
  "Just open it."
I carefully removed the envelope and took off the wrapping paper.
"You- you're really giving this to me?" I looked up at her and saw her smiling face. I let out a cry and hugged her.
"I know that you said it looked like Philip so your mom and I washed and wrapped it up when we found out what happened to Philip." Here it was, the horse shirt she had been wearing the day before. She had given it to me as a sorry gift.
I opened the envelope next. It had read:
     Dear Lucy,
I am sorry for what had occurred last night and wanted to give my shirt to you as a sorry gift. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
     Sincerely, Bella

I looked at Bella again and thanked her as the bell rang. I walked to my next class feeling a bit better then before.
I sat in my seat, fidgeting with a pencil.
  "Hey. You feeling alright?"
"As alright as I could be." I looked at Max. He was one of the kindest people I met this year. I'm ever so grateful for him and Bella.
Max looked at me and smiled a bit.
"Can you meet me at the back of the cafeteria at lunch?"
"Sure." I was confused but I was also curious. We talked until the bell rang and it was time for lunch.
I walked with Max to the spot where he wanted to talk.
"Lucy, I need to talk to you about Philip. And the wolf that killed him. When you go home, go to the stables, someone will be there who needs to talk to you. Do you understand?"
"Yeah, but, why? Who's the person???"
"I can't tell you, I was just told to tell you what I just told you."
"Okay..." I looked at him confused but kept all the many questions I had in my head.
  After school
School was over and I was on my bus, after saying goodbye to Bella and Max.
Once I got home, I put my stuff onto my bed and walked to the stables.
I got to the stables and gasped. It was CONNOR! Connor was the person who needed to talk to me.
"We need to talk." There was no "hi" or "hey" before he said this, he just had a stern look on his face.
"So I was told." I replied trying to be polite as I could while crossing my arms.
"Lucy, I'm serious. You don't know what I mean but mom and dad do."
DID HE JUST SAY "MOM AND DAD"?!?! My mind was spinning as he said this but I did my best not to show it as mom and dad came into the stables.
"Mom, dad, what's going on???" I accidentally shouted at them with a hint of fear that they were going crazy and I would lose them as I had lost Philip.
  A/N
I'm sorry for the delay. But I am back! I know I may not be talking to a lot of readers but I wanted to let those who are reading my first ever book, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! Bye for now.
