"I must declare both Sergeant Major Rogers and Captain Rogers killed in action." Peggy walked in.
"The last surveillance flight is back," she said, tossing some documents onto the table. "No sign of activity."
"Go get a cup of coffee Corporal," Lieutenant Phillips said, the Corporal responding with "yes, sir". Phillips flopped the documents back on teh table, walking the tent.
"Can't touch Stark, he's rich and he's the Army's number one weapons contractor, you or anyone," he said.
"With respect, Sir, I don't regret my actions, and I don't think the Captain or Sergeant Major Rogers did either," Peggy said, not meeting his eyes and looking out into the camp.
"What makes you think I give a crap about your opinions?" Phillips asked, angry. "I took a chance with you, Agent Carter, and now you've just lost America's Golden Boy, the best Sergeant Major we have in this crappy lot, and a lot of good men are dead 'cause you had a crush."
"It wasn't that," Peggy said, looking him dead in the face. "I had faith."
"Well, I hope that's a big comfort to you when they shut this division down," he said. A bunch of men outside began shouting and running towards the entrance.
"What's going on now?" Phillips asked, both him and Peggy moving outside.
Walking in were Steve, Alexis, and Bucky, hundreds of men behind them. Some in trucks, few in a tank, and most walking. The troops in the camp began forming a line, letting them pass while saluting to them. Alexis and Bucky stood at Steve's sides, all walking tall and proud. Other troops were still running to them, greeting their comrades in excitement. Soon, they reached Phillips and Peggy, Alexis moving in front of Steve and Bucky to begin talking.
"Some of these men need medical attention," she said after saluting Phillips. She glanced back at Steve. "I'd like to surrender myself to disciplinary action."
"That won't be necessary, Major," Phillips said. Steve's and Alexis' faces lightened, shocked yet happy. Phillips smiled softly at the siblings.
"Yes, Sir," Alexis said. Phillips turned around and began walking back.
"Faith, huh?" He asked Peggy, not waiting for a response. Peggy smiled, moving to Steve.
"You're late," she said. Steve lifted his radio, part of it blown off.
"I couldn't call my ride," he said with a soft smile. Peggy smiled up at him. Bucky smiled at Alexis who was by his side before yelling loudly.
"Hey! Let's hear it for Captain America and the Starred Soldier!" He exclaimed. There was immediate clapping as well as whoops and hollers.
---
"We'll need a team," Steve said.
"We are already lining up the finest men," the man said.
"So, am I," Alexis shot back, a smile growing on her face.
...
"I just wanted to thank you again, doll, for saving me. I'm sorry that you had to, I know that that's supposed to be my job-" Alexis cut Bucky off.
"Love, it's not just your job. We both have to be there for each other, so I was," she said with smile. Bucky smiled at her lovingly.
"I love you, Sugar," he said. Alexis giggled.
