It's been two years. I know, it's been a while. Alexis had bailed on SHIELD, having been with them for a good 70 years prior anyways. Steve did not, sticking with his Captain America image. His sister on the other hand, kept up the Starred Soldier image by going after who they call the Winter Soldier. When Alexis told SHIELD of him, they refused an investiagtion or mission against him. He was an urban myth who had been involved in over two dozen assassinations over the span of almost fifty years. Some did not believe that that could actually happen, but others knew otherwise. One of those people was Natasha Romanoff, a close friend to Alexis. She fought in the Battle of New York with her, as well as forming a partnership for SHIELD to use to its advantage. Natasha was one of the only people who knew of Alexis' whereabouts, but even then, there was no absolute way to know of them. 

Steve did not know entirely why Alexis left, but she did tell him of her experience with Bucky. There was a slight unsure tone in her voice when she said it, also claiming to not know if she was even seeing things correctly at the time, so Steve failed to believe his sister. As much as he missed his best friend, it was simply not possible. So, Alexis left. She left everything and only left traces of the Starred Soldier being around. Sometimes, she popped in during a SHIELD mission or even visited Steve or Natasha, but she mainly stayed in her mission areas. Her mission was not one of the Russian Mafia or HYDRA, it was her own personal mission that came with some benefits. Alexis considered herself to be a vigilante, not quite a hero, but still doing things for the good of the people, things that always had positive outcomes. However, her ways were not always inside the law. The girl's values never changed, her personality always the same, but she just had a different desire, a different aim and journey. She tried not to kill, but when bad people got in her way, she did not completely rule it out. That sounds terrible, but what hero does not kill people in the wrong? Often times, police would find criminals tied up outside their station with the same symbol on the left side of their neck; a red star. It almost looked like a tattoo, but it was not. No one knew how it got there, but they always knew one thing from it; that person had been taken down by the Starred Soldier. Alexis was known all over the world for her work, making a few contacts and having a few favors owed to her. This made her search easy; her search for Bucky. She knew it was a longshot and that it was highly unlikely that she would be able to find him, at least easily, but she wanted to try. It was Bucky, the same Bucky that had cheered her up when she cried, taken her to her first amusement park, had been her first crush, first boyfriend, first kiss, and had proposed to her in the fall of 1942. Even though she knew that he had gone through crap, he was still her Bucky.  But, he was not her entire focus. 

Every now and again, Natasha and Steve would catch sight of her in DC or hear about her being up in Brooklyn or New York. A few times, she had hit Nevada and Missouri, having paid jobs to bring in a couple of mob bosses. She had become less of a public figure and more of a perservering anti-hero with a mission. But, that is just what life serves you when you are a super soldier with almost 80 years of experience in the business of well, killing, in a sense. People still admired the Starred Soldier, the image of the perfect hero still being maintained as she took down mob bosses and people intending to do harm to the world.

"You see Alexis?" Steve asked, looking out into the park. Natasha sat next to him on the bench, shaking her head.

"Not since you did," she replied. 

"What is she doing?" Steve asked. Natasha sighed, glancing at her hands.

"She's doing what she needs to," was her response. Steve crossed his arms, still not looking at the woman.

"And that is?" He asked.
