He left. He just... left. He agreed to her joining him, but instead he just left. No goodbyes, taking all hopes of Alexis getting Bucky back with him. Alexis was hurt, for some odd reason. She did not understand entirely why, but she did know that she was hurt because she wanted to get him back, she always had. At some points, she pinned the label of 'overreacting' onto her situation, but it did not change the emotions she felt. And now... she did not know what to do. She did not know whether or not to go home to the Avengers or to go back to her vigilante-esc life like before the whole SHIELD-HYDRA debacle. She did not know if she should go after him, or just leave him be, because he obviously did not want her company. It was all so confusing, Alexis was just left in utter shock.

The girl took her time in leaving, spending another week in the ratty apartment. When she left, it was as if no one was ever there. People seem to underestimate her abilities or experience, but she did spend years with the Army, even more with SHIELD, finding people, covering her tracks, becoming a valuable asset even more so than what she already was. That is why she was such a target when she went it alone, people wanted her down or working for them. Anyways, back on topic. Alexis decided to contact certain people from the Avengers, meeting with Nat, Steve, and Sam at a local diner, sticking in D.C., and calling Tony. No one but Natasha really knows that the two unlikely friends are actually best friends, their origin story being unique.

It started when Steve went under, and Alexis needed support. She had three constants; Howard, Peggy, and a woman by the name of Maria Carbonell. Howard and Maria eventually got married and had a beautiful baby boy by the name of Anthony "Tony" Edward Stark. Alexis spent a great deal of time with the family before becoming heavily involved with SHIELD, leaving contact with them when Tony was only 5. Time skip to 24 years later, Tony is 29, and Alexis is... we won't talk about that... but Alexis volunteers for the task of babysitting. Well, "babysitting" Tony. It was a mission given years before Tony even started with the Iron Man things, SHIELD still being a bit weary about the man. He was the CEO of a military-grade weapons company. So, Alexis took the job, grateful to be away from more hardcore missions like her previous of attempting to track and take down the Winter Soldier Elite Squad as well as seeing the boy again. Tony did not recognize her, seeing as he was only a toddler when he last saw the woman, and she looked exactly the same. Alexis was his assistant, Pepper Potts being her own. She continued doing this for years, passing along the "babysitting gig" a year and a half or so after Tony began on his Iron Man endeavors. Alexis viewed the experience fondly, remembering the sweet and hilarious experiences that only the two of them knew of. The Avengers did not know of the best-friendship, however, finding it odd how they can jump into a conversation seamlessly, despite running with different groups even within the team; Tony with Bruce, Rhodey, and Thor and Alexis with Steve, Nat, Clint, and Sam. The team did notice the looks they give each other, simple glances or nods, funny smirks and smiles, a playful wink or two, silent words and knowledge exchanged, as well as being able to finish each other's sentences, as cliche as that sounds. It happens. So, Alexis decided to call the one person who would be able to make her confusion seem normal all the while providing her with the most reasonable answer; Tony Stark.

"Tony?" Alexis asked after the ringing stopped.

"Hey Star-face," Tony replied, "What's up? Are you okay? Where are you? I saw the whole ordeal happen on the News. Are you okay?" He was referring to the Winter Soldier and HYDRA situation. Alexis flopped onto her cushiony hotel bed, sitting up, her elbows digging into the feathery and fluffy pillows behind her and to her sides.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm okay 'T'," she said. She heard a sigh of relief on the other end.

"That's good. No one else knows how to make my coffee," he said jokingly. Alexis rolled her eyes with a laugh.
