I Think I Kinda, You Know | Joshua Bassett

Prologue

October 2018.

The last few weeks have been a little weird with me and my best friend, Joshua. He's been worrying so much lately. You see, he auditioned for this Disney show about High School Musical that he talks about all the time a couple weeks ago. I mean I get it if he's nervous and worried. It's like his dream to be able to play one of the leads, especially in a Disney production. It's also his first big acting job, of course if he got the part. But it's getting a little too much.

It's lunch time at school. I'm sitting in the cafeteria with Joshua. It's not like I don't have any other friends than Joshua. I'm just a little worried about him.

Oh, I think I didn't give enough information about Joshua. Or myself.

Rachel Hayes. Junior. I like to bake and dance. I also sing sometimes. And play the piano. Even though I'm not really good at it.

Sitting right in front of me, Joshua Bassett. Senior. My best friend since the first grade. We met on my first day of first grade, where second grade Joshua got in the wrong classroom, which happened to be the classroom that I was in. Funny thing is, nobody knew about it and he ended up going to my classroom for 2 weeks straight.

He's an actor. He's starred in a couple shows as minor characters. So yeah this Disney show thing is a very big deal to him. Also he's kinda one of the "popular" guys at school. I mean he's an actor. I've heard a lot of rumors of girls crushing on him. It's never a surprise. I get it why girls are crushing on him. He has such a goofy personality. He's very caring. And, that cute face? Seriously, who doesn't fall in love when you see that cute face I mean...

Anyway, He never really cared about it though, since he's more of a shy person. He's that kind of person that you can only see the real goofy him when you're actually close to him. But I like that about him. He's not using his fame or cute face to hit on girls like that guy over there, sitting just across my table with his friends.

His name is Logan Stacey. Also a senior. Josh's classmate. Known to break many girls' hearts. A player. A jerk. He hit on me once but I obviously didn't fall for him. Obviously. Also because Josh told me to stay away from him. And he kinda always told him stay away from me every time he goes near me.

But yeah, Josh and I are super close. He knows everything about me. He cares about me. He's already like a brother to me. But there is one thing about me that nobody knows. Not even Joshua.

I may have... just a teeny little crush on him.
