Sophie's POV
It feels like I've been staring at the door for hours. The last person to visit me was Keefe and he could only stay for a few minutes before his dad demanded his return. I'm still sad about Tam and Linh leaving, but I'm glad they're doing what makes them feel useful and valued. I wish I could've made them feel valued too. I let out a long sigh. I could finally move my arms without wanting to cry so I reached to grab some water.
My throat felt dry and it reminded me of sandpaper. Thoughts of 'what if' have been racing through my mind for the past few days. I have absolutely no idea what happened to all those Neverseen members I knocked out when I managed to escape. They could've ran away before the council got there or even started looking for them. There seemed like hundreds of members were there, did I let them all off scotch free? Similar thoughts scrambled around my mind until a soft knock on the door was heard.
"Come in." I managed to choke out, hiding my worry. Edaline came upstairs with some custard bursts and a warm smile gracing her lips.
"I figured you were still awake." She laughed. She snapped her fingers making the plate land in my lap. Edaline pulled up a chair next to my bed.
"But even so, it's almost 8 you need some rest." She exclaimed softly grabbing a custard burst and eating it. I picked one up and popped it in my mouth letting the sweet sugary treat melt in my mouth.
"These are really good." I managed to say through a mouth full of them. Edaline smiled while clapping her hands, which closed the curtains.
"I'm not going to make you sleep yet because you have a visitor downstairs."
She explained pushing my hand away from the last few custard bursts.
"Want me to send them up?" Edaline asked, with me nodding in response. A few seconds later, 29 to be specific, I saw Fitz open my door.
"Hi Fitz." I exclaimed at the sight of him. My cognate ring lit up once he walked closer to me and sat where weapons was a little while ago. The ring glowed brighter making the teal gem sparkle in the soft light. The golden bands snapped together with a small 'click'.
"Good evening Sophie." Fitz grinned. I've been back for a few days and Fitz was my most frequent visitor, besides my parents. This thought made my heart warm immensely.

Fitz and I chatted for around an hour before we realized how quickly time went out of our reach.
"How about I visit you tomorrow?" He asked softly. I smiled,
"That'd be nice." The admiration and eagerness in his voice made heart flutter and sent butterflies into my stomach. He wants to see me. I grinned bigger and a soft blush made its way to my cheeks. I saw him blush a bit too before he unleashed his frequent nervous habit, scratching the back of his neck. Sadly, Fitz let go of my hand before walking away with a dazzling smile and a wave.
"Goodnight Sophie." He said as he looked back at me. He paused for a moment and I saw his features illuminated by the soft glow of my lights. He widened his eyes before he turned the door knob and leaving my room.

The next morning Elwin was checking up on me before heading to work.
"After straining yourself healing Biana's mind, you potentially added a few days until your off bed rest." Elwin sighed. My face formed a disappointed frown. I thought for a moment before smiling a bit.
"Well I saved Biana a month of a broken mind, what's a few more days?" I told him. Elwin nodded agreeing. A soft knock was heard on the door before Fitz peeked his head around through the door.
"Good day Sophie, Fitz." Elwin said smiling to the two of us before sending Fitz into the room with a friendly pat on the shoulder before leaving himself.
"Hey Fitz!" I said cheerily. He walked towards me keeping his hands behind his back and a large grin on his face.
"What are you hiding?" I asked giggling.
"Close your eyes and then you'll find out." He chuckled. I squeezed my eyes shut waiting for him to let me open them. I felt a light object be placed on my lap.
"Okay, you can open your eyes now." Fitz let our nervously. His accent ringed though my ears. I love his accent. I thought before opening my eyes. I looked at Fitz before seeing a small tin on my lap. I removed the lid and the smell of fresh mallowmelt filled the air.
"Thank you Fitz!" I exclaimed, Edaline hasn't made any for such a long time.
"I'm not done though." He drew out giddily. I raised my eyebrow as he pulled something out of his school bag. Right, school. I saw the red sparkles and immediately recognized it.
"Mr.Snuggles!" I laughed out. He handed me the stuffed and sparkly red dragon.
"Fitz this was so sweet of you." He blushed and scratched the sparkly dragon.
"Oh it was no problem." Fitz stammered. Cute...
"Anyway I've got to head to school, see you later Sophie." Fitz added brushing off his cape a bit. I shoved my head in my hands.
"I'm going to be so far behind." I groaned. Fitz laughed while gathering his stuff.
"Sophie, you'll be fine!" He exclaimed.
"You've always been good at catching up with school work," Fitz added. Fitz put a hand on my shoulder and flashed a reassuring smile.
"I know but I can't wait until I can get out of this bed." I said falling back on my bed. I soon realized it was a very bad idea once my ribs starting stinging and burning
"Soph, you okay?" Fitz asked quickly helping me up. He just called me Soph.
"Yeah, I just need that green bottle." I stuttered. He handed me it and I gulped it down feeling that pain disappear.
"You still have school, you'd better get going." I laughed. Fitz's eyes widened at my words.
"Oh yeah! I'll see you later Sophie, feel better!" He rushed out my door, sprinting to the leapmaster.

According to Elwin I healed faster than expected so instead of 5 weeks, it took 21 days. This news of course made me beyond excited of course.
"Grady please please please!" I was currently trying to persuade him to let me go to school.
"Come on honey let her." Edaline said from the kitchen.
"Fine. I don't snag you missing midterms." Grady sighed, but I could see him hiding a grin.
"If you feel anything start to hurt, tell Elwin and come home." He demanded. I nodded eagerly, excited for tomorrow.
"Thank you so much!" I exclaimed heading back upstairs and getting dressed. Since everyone has been studying for the testing coming up I haven't seen anyone in at least two weeks. I went back downstairs contemplating visiting him. I don't want to bother him when he's studying though... When I reached the bottom floor I saw Edaline talking to Fitz.
"I haven't gotten a break recently to I was wondering if I could go to the panakes tree for a bit then see Sophie. Perfect! Edaline said it was perfectly fine with her do he headed for the door.
"Thanks, I'll be back later." He waved to my parents then left.
