The way the rest of the day progressed slowly, didn't surprise me at all. Mostly because I laid on my bed, blasting music that I could relate to or music that simply put me in a better mood.
My door opened, and Chelsea was standing in the doorway. I hadn't noticed yet, because I was my own world with my music, escaping from it all.
My earplugs fell out of my ear. I gasped as I saw Chelsea. She started laughing.
"Alright, loser, let's go to the movies. Be ready in ten." She sat on the bed. I furrowed my eyebrows. "How do you expect me to be ready in just ten minutes?"
She shrugged. "I can get ready in ten minutes. I crossed my arms across my chest. "That's a lie."
I grabbed my clothes and went to the bathroom, locking the door. The temperature of the proceeding night, was cool breezes.
I had picked out a sweater, dark blue jeans, brown boots, and a necklace. I put my clothes on and did very little makeup. Just a little mascara and concealer to hide the bags under my eyes, as well as my blemishes.
I brushed my hair down from the ponytail.
I walked out and Chelsea was still on my bed, but listening to my music. I put the clothes that I had taken off, in the hamper. She took out the earplugs and we walked out of my room.
We both got into her car.
She started the car and turned up the radio. Stay high by Tove Lo was playing. She turned it all the way up to the max.
I looked out of the window, watching the surroundings zoom by quickly as the car got faster. Blurred images consisted of my vision.
After a short amount of time spent driving around the town, we finally arrived at the movie theater.
We got in, immediately going to the line. The place was packed. Every line was full. I could imagine how much time it would take for just a person to go through.
"Arabella, after I get the tickets, go over to the snack line so we can get into the theater as quick as possible. Get extra butter on the popcorn." The line started to shorten as we got farther up the line. I nodded.
"What movie are we seeing?" I questioned.
She pursed her lips in concentration, "Well, I was thinking of seeing the movie Gone Girl or Ouija. They both seem interesting." She smirked. I couldn't really deal with scary movies. I already knew I would go home with fright and won't be able to go to sleep.
"Um, let's see Gone Girl. I don't have time for staying up all night on a school night." I said, as we got to the front of the line.
She sighed. "Ok fine, but we are seeing Ouija next time we come here." I agreed and I was planning on not chickening out.
She gave the ticket holder the money for the both of us and I stepped out of the line and walked over to the snack line. The snack line was going by faster than the ticket line.
I ordered one big popcorn and two drinks. Chelsea grabbed the drinks and ran along to the movie. I sighed as I walked over to the butter machine. I put extra butter, more than was needed. I turned around once I was done getting the butter.
I got the popcorn balanced in my hands so that it wasn't possible for it to slip out. I looked down as I walked, making sure my hands hadn't slipped. I felt my body and the popcorn shift forward. I gasped as I realized what just happened.
The popcorn had got all over a boy I hadn't expected to be here. The popcorn stuck to him, the butter staining his shirt. He let out a frustrated groan.
"Oh my gosh. I'm sorry again!" I started to reach out and tried to get the popcorn from his shirt. He backed away.
"You're so clumsy. What next are you gonna do?" He started laughing, his frustration fading away as he ate the popcorn off of his shirt.
I didn't find anything about this situation funny. I always do something. "I owe you a new shirt. I'm sorry again."
He shrugged. "I've got plenty of shirts though. Mostly ones that say Obey, oh and hoodies that also say that."
"Oh, that's um, cool. I still insist on getting you a new one." I tried to sound enthusiastic.
"Yeah, what's your name?" He continued to eat the popcorn off of his shirt.
"Arabella. I'm in your history class." I started to pick up the popcorn off the ground.
His eyes showed of recognition. "No, don't do that, that's the custodians job." He smirked. "Anyways, what movie are you seeing? And my name is Matthew. But you can call me Matt, whatever floats your boat."
"I'm seeing Gone Girl." I said, feeling awkward about the whole conversation. I hadn't ever imagined a conversation lasting this long with anyone.
"I am too, with my sister." He rolled his eyes, as if he didn't want to see the movie and rather wanted to see something else that interested him. "I'll see you in there, with my buttered and sticky shirt." He smirked again, walking towards the theatre.
I stood there in shock. He took it all so greatly, and wasn't harsh. I would've if it were me to get popcorn spilled all over my sweater.
