I walked into the showing room with a fresh box of popcorn. They gave me it for free since it was spilled all over the place. The custodian was pretty pissed too, and I felt bad.
But I kept it there and tried to pick it up for the custodian, but he told me to go away and that he could get it.
I rolled my eyes as I saw Chelsea, dancing in the aisle to the music that was playing in the ads.
"Thanks for helping me." I sarcastically said. She stopped dancing and grabbed the popcorn out of my hand. "Woah, who drove you up a hill?" She watched my expression.
"First, you ran off with the drinks and I was stuck with the popcorn and. . ." I stopped mid-sentence.
She furrowed her eyebrows, knowing that I had more to say but I wouldn't say it. She shrugged. "I saw Matthew come in here, he had butter all over his shirt. He asked me if I knew you."
My stomach turned at the thought. Many questions filled my mind, throwing me off a bit. Maybe I was just overthinking it.
"Well. . . long stor-" Before I could finish my excuse, I was interrupted by her. "I've got time."
I honestly hated when people said they had time to listen when you didn't want to obviously say it in the first place. I sunk down in the chair pursing my lips, with concentration. I was trying to tell it in a different way because all I know is that she would laugh at me and my back luck of clumsiness.
I opened my mouth to say something, but was forced to close it again as a piece of popcorn was being thrown at the back of my head.
I turned around to see Matthew looking the other way while whistling.
"Matthew, I saw that. Stop messing with the girl for god sakes! Are you flirting with her with your immature ways?" A female voice sounded behind me. I automatically assumed it was his sister.
"Shut up Kristen. My finger slipped." Matthew spoke, as the movie started.
Chelsea's eyes were glued to the screen, very well interested in the beginning credits. Those always bored me.
"Your finger is about to slip once I slap the back of your head." Kristen said. I couldn't help but smile.
"I hope you do!" Matthew raised his voice, earning shh's from many people that were trying to watch the beginning of the movie. As the movie continued, I heard a slap sound behind me, which made everyone turn and look at them both.
"Ouch, that hurt." Matthew said, rubbing the back of his head. Kristen smiled, with guilt. "You said you hope I did, so I did. You should've expected that most of all." That's when I let out a light laugh, as he glared at me.

The movie progressed. Little talks of chatter came from behind me, but the talks weren't so loud. I could still hear the movie.
The movie was good so far, it was a mystery thriller and it kept me on the edge of my seat for the majority of the time.
When the movie was over, I grabbed the popcorn box and walked out of the showing room. It had been mostly eaten by Chelsea. I didn't eat much of it because my eyes were glued on the screen as well.
I got late out of the theater due to the pushing and shoving that the people were doing and by the time I got out, Chelsea had already left. I sighed with disbelief and sadness.
I always get ditched at one point.
I pulled out my phone and instantly dialed my mother's number. The breezes of cold air made me shudder with sudden coldness. After three rings, she finally picked up.
"Hello?"
"Hey Arabella, is the movie over?"
"Yes, mom it is but I have no ride home because Chelsea ditched me." I was trying not to burst into tears, I always got ditched at my old school by friends. It made me feel like I wasn't good enough.
"Oh no, don't cry Arabella. I'm stuck in a meeting at the hospital and I can't come get you. I'm sorry honey, but I would come get you if I could. Get your jacket on if you have one with you, wouldn't want you getting sick."
I wiped my eyes, trying to block a tear from falling. It was true, I always have the bad luck.
I ended the call, standing in front of the movie theater with tears threatening to stream down my face, burning my cheeks along the way.
