Gen 8 Pokèmon Rating (Normie Type)

283 4 0

First thing first, I'm going to analyze one by one all new Pokèmon, starting from the Normie type ones (Not really keen on Normal type pokèmon lmao)

Analysis gives every Pokèmon a rating between 0/5 and 5/5, and it's based on Pokèmon's design, backstory, lore, etc.

I won't post any competitive analysis unless I'm asked by someone, so the rating does NOT consider Pokèmon's usefullness.

For each typing, I'll rate Pokèmon who gain the determined type as PRIMARY Type (For instance, a Galarian Zigzagoon won't fit the Normie Type cathegory as its primary type is Dark type).

Let's straight up get started:

                        Skwovet: 1/5

Literally a fucking squirrel who enjoys chewing berries, it's cute and all but I can't stand this lack of originality

When I first saw it, I was speechless. Not only it's poorly designed, but it's also fat and ugly. Smh. It's even worse than Alolan Raticate and Diggersby, which already looked ugly asf for the same reasons (Actually Diggersby wasn't even that poorly designed. It was just ugly)

(I also hate it bc 9/10 times it'll jump out of my fucking berry tree stealing my precious Sitrus Berries)

                        Wooloo: 3/5

Now, even though its originality is poor (it's literally a sheep), the pokèmon itself is pretty cool

Now, even though its originality is poor (it's literally a sheep), the pokèmon itself is pretty cool. I like its habit of rolling around without worrying about bumping into objects as its layer of wool is extremely soft! It's really cute and it is really fun to interact with that at some point in the story. Also, this Pokèmon is pretty iconic as it's Hop's signature pokèmon. Overall, I think it's a decent 'Mon.

                    Dubwool: 2,5/5

Now, this 'Mon is kind of forgettable

Now, this 'Mon is kind of forgettable. It shares the same originality issue with Wooloo, and on top of that it doesn't really feel as iconic. Yes, it's gonna be in Hop's team like ever since it evolves, but other than that there's nothing relevant story/lore-wise that can make up for the fact that it's an upgraded version of a sheep (it actually reminds me of a goat lol)

However its design isn't bad at all, I like the fact that it looks like a  soccer ball and that it looks more serious and angry than Wooloo

             Pokèmon analyzed: 4
               Overall score: 1,625
                 Overall thought:

The squirrels basically ruined everything lol. I actually liked at some degree both of the sheep. Fortunely we didn't get many Normal type additions in these games.

I understand that Normal type is not supposed to be assigned to crazy mithological-like Pokèmon like Magikarp or Garbodor, but some originality is ALWAYS possible. Just think about Sawsbuck and Exploud though, they were normal types yet original asf.
