unpopular book opinions!
mostly in the ya genre

the cruel prince is nowhere near as good as its sequel. i mean i loved the first book n all but the sequel is god tier

i hated the romance in the hunger games lol it didnt feel realistic to me. i know katniss loved peeta but i dont think she did romantically?? idk

im so tired of reading about the same type of characters honestly. they almost all sound and talk the same and make the same typa choices its annoying lmao which is why some of my favourite books have character archetypes i dont see often

i get why people like the mortal instruments, besides the *unnecessary* incest plot, the tone of it is really fun, i guess?

i will never understand how blue is considered a main chatacter. honestly i love her and everything but she feels like a side character,, especially in the second book she barely spoke and was always out of the loop

this isnt unpopular i guess but a court of throne and roses is absolute shit. it wasnt the writing style or anything but it was just. SO. UNBELIEVABLY BORINGGGGG all the characters but lucien were annoying and needy and just plain. it was just bAD

honestly ill never get how people like the vampire academy series. ros(i)e was obnoxious and way too stuck up,,, and i hated how she kept comparing her *curvy* body to the vampire girls *slim* bodies and kept detailing on how it made her better than them in a way

all YA characters are the same and its so damn annoying . jude duarte not included,, she owns me

warnette was my first otp so i love them they're tHE trashy ya couple of the decade

i read little women because timothee chalamet is going to star in the new movie dont jUDGE mE

speaking of,,, i know everyone makes fun of people who fancast timothee as cardan from tfota.... but like................. hes my fancast for cardan

i will never fancast a blonde for aaron warner idc what anyone says

freddy carter is literally kaz brekker anyone who says otherwise is tasteless

im fucking scared for the raven cycle tv show because theres a very specific aesthetic to every character and im scared they'll mess it up

rom com genre should exist in books bye

i like the darkling a lot but hes barely in the books? i feel like we didnt get enough of him especially in ruin & rising

alarkling has zero chemistry in the books lmao and it was weird as fuck when the kissed

the wrath and the dawn is so fucking underrated u all are missing out honestly

judecardan > kanej i love both but i mean..

serpent and dove is so overrated lmao i didnt like the romance at all and it just reminded me of nina & mattias or however u spell his name

stalking jack the ripper sucks

a book having a good romance or morally grey characters is enough to make me read it lmaoo

paperback > hardback

i like the lunar chronicles and all but the romance is soOOO CRINGE and childish honestly my fav was the winter/jacin ship i liked cress/throne a lotttt but it was so weird when she thought she was inlove with him idk

the second shatter me trilogy isnt.... that bad. but then again im a warnette whore so i take what i get

kaz brekker is THE ultimate anti-heroin ya. i feel like he changed the game because we're so used to seeing the same type of male characters in ya and he was so different and hes honestly so iconic i just—

honestly kind of tired of male villains can we get more female villains <<3

wylan & kaz & inej are the holy trinity of six of crows. honourable mention; jesper

im currently reading six of crows and im loving it way more than i did the first time honestly. i feel like i skimmed through the wordbuilding the first time around and this time im annotating it and i fucking LOVEE the setting of this story!!! i love reading abt the barrel n all

oh my god i forgot her name but judes oldest half sister was sOoooOoo annoying in the wicked king oh my goddd i swear judes the only semi sane one in her family

i love adam parrish and gansey with my whole heart

i love how different trc is from other ya books. i never met a character like gansey & adam before and it was so exciting for me to read abt them. and also they fucking invented the found family trope.

i feel like, this is controversial, but the raven cycle is one of the few books in ya that writes friendships accurately and realistically. idk how to explain it but other ya books just dont have realistic friendships

red queen isnt thatt bad its just the writing style thats a little hard to get into

i only read 2 percy jackson books and i dont like the plot as much as i like the characters and dialogue but im hoping it gets more mature or something when i get into the series with the lost hero idk what its called lol
