Four years had passed and Anastasius just turned 19, today is the day where he will be leaving their country to study in the famous Corielle Kingdom, the Kingdom where Charles is appointed as the Crown Prince. Even though they already resolved all the conflicts in the main novel, it was still necessary for Anastasius to leave for the betterment of their country.
After all, alliances is an important step in surviving in a competitive world when it comes to small countries such as theirs.
However, unlike in the main novel where his family didn't even checked up on him before he left, this day continues on in a more different picture. Lucas is trying hard to convince the King and Queen to let him go with his brother; the King is just spacing out as if he couldn't believe what was happening; and the Queen, who's devastated as well, but still remained more rational than the father-and-son duo, who were thinking of just forgetting the alliance and just make Anastasius remain by their side, scolds the two for being selfish.
"Papa, Lulu, I'm really okay. Besides, I'm the one who chose this decision remember?" Anastasius said with a gentle tone. He almost felt like he's pacifying two big babies. His kindergarten assistant instincts are kicking in once again, it has been a long time since he felt that.
"You heard Anastasius well right? And Lucas, you cannot just go with your older brother because you're the Crown Prince of this country. The backbone of this Kingdom, in other words." Tiana explained.
"But I don't trust other people with Anastasius! He's so dense and he doesn't have an ounce of self-protective instincts in his nature." Lucas argues back.
Ouch, the person you're talking about is here you know? Yuu thought, hearing it from your younger sibling hits really hard. Especially when your mind is already of an adult's.
"Hey that's not a nice thing to say young man. But well, now that I think about it, will you really be okay, dear? Icarus wouldn't be there with you all the time like he used to. They don't allow butlers and maids in that academy so Icarus can only visit you every now and then..." The Queen inquired with a concerned tone. His relationship with Tiana leans more to the older-sister-with-his-younger-sibling type of relationship because of Tiana's leniency, but there were times where her maternal instincts just takes over her.
"You do not need to worry, your imperial majesty--"
"Tiana." The Queen corrected.
"--I mean, Tiana. Icarus already insisted on renting an apartment near the academy to keep me just within his reach. I think that's more than enough really..." Anastasius reassured with an awkward smile, he really think that's completely unnecessary but Icarus even went all the way into suggesting that he use his own money for the rent. Although that was already covered by the Royal family.
"If there's anything you don't like, or if anyone talks to you in a manner you don't like. Anything. Send papa a letter and I will immediately take care of it." The King, who were, thankfully, seemed to have regained composure now, said with a stern voice.
"I will, papa, please don't worry."
"Your Majesties, Young Master, the carriage is ready." Icarus informed politely.
"You win this time, Smith." The King grumbled. Icarus suppressed a victorious smile.
Anastasius bid his final farewell before turning his back completely. But before he can even reach his carriage, he was distracted by a larger, way larger, carriage beside it. And in front of its door stands Charles.
"I've been waiting, my future fiancé." Charles remarked with a confident smile. He looked more matured now. His body got more broad and muscular. His features became sharper, and just when Anastasius thought he couldn't get any taller. Well, surprise surprise, he's an actual tree now with a height of, probably around, 6'1 or higher.
"I apologize your majesty, Siax Charles Corielle, Crown Prince of the esteemed Corielle Kingdom, but my Young Master already has a ride." Icarus said while bowing, his tone seemed polite if an outsider hears it, but beneath it lies a field of flames embedded on each word of his sentence, and Charles was able to catch up.
"Oh that would be a shame. And here I thought of sharing the comic book that a certain someone has been wanting to see in his entire life, as he says." Charles said playfully, which made Anastasius' ears perk up.
"No way!" Anastasius exclaimed, he couldn't believe at what Charles was saying. Is he finally gonna be able to read the very first comic book in the history of this novel's world?
"From the front cover to the back. Exactly like how you described it."
"I'm sorry for intruding." Anastasius said as he made his way inside Charles' carriage.
Before going inside, Charles flashed a smug smile to Icarus while the butler just answered him with a glare.
"Follow that carriage." Is all Icarus could say.
