"Ladies and Gentlemen, should we applause for our winner, Prince Siax Charles Corrielle!" Right after the MC said that, the whole arena was filled with cheers and applause.
The contest lasted for five hours, everyone anticipated on their seats, still doubting whether their crown prince will be able to pull off such a risky feat. Some decided to put their bets on Cassandra, the heroine, instead for she looked very promising with her introduction.
But alas, the verdict was done and based on the tests that they ran on the elixirs that the competitors made, Charles' really did work perfectly. Cassandra's elixir also worked, in fact, if it hadn't been because of Charles' elixir's novelty and success, hers would've been chosen as the winning piece.
Unlike the original storyline where the heroine won, Charles took her spot and is now looking proudly at Anastasius while holding his trophy and certificate. If everything is going with the novel's flow, it would've been the heroine who's currently holding the prizes and Charles' gaze would've been fixed on her the whole time.
This left Anastasius with a tad feeling of anxiety, Would it be okay to end up like this? But more importantly, how did it end up like this? It's not like I influenced Charles to change the elixir that he should make to beat the heroine...What changed his mind?
Well, enough with worrying, I should congratulate him first since I'm his friend, right?
With that in mind, he immediately waved his hand for Charles to see as he flash his happiest smile. Charles almost melted on the spot.
After the bell, the students made their way to their classes. Anastasius' class is still scheduled a little later so he went to Charles first on the arena's platform. The competitors are still packing up their things, meaning, the heroine is still with them.
Should I congratulate her too? She won the 2nd place and I know that what she did was tricky too... Anastasius hesitated, but he made sure to greet Charles first.
"Congratulations on winning! I knew you would be able to do it. What ingredients did you use? Anhydrous sodium carbonate? Hygroscopic powder? How much of mana did you use to make it? No wait, the real question would be what's the ratio of the wind, fire, and earth magic you had to calculate right?" He's really intrigued by how Charles was able to come up with that so he unconsciously rambled about his knowledge in chemistry with his questions, and since he knew that he's living in a magical world, he also asked about the mana and magic type for it's usually one of the most important parts of elixir making in this world.
"I used the Hygroscopic powder as a base, and as for the stabilizer I used Anhydrous sodium carbonate. The amount of mana and the ratio of magic I used is a secret though that I may only tell you after my meeting with Professor Hills." Charles answered, not surprised at how Anastasius was able to guess the ingredients right, he always deemed the other as his equal when it comes to intellect, that's also why he loves talking with Anastasius, he gets to share his knowledge with him without having to explain it afterwards.
While they were talking about Charles' winning piece, the other competitors can only gaped at them.
'I heard the person who can equally talk to the Prince about such things have yet to be born... This adorable guy doesn't look like it but wow, he must also be a genius!' Was all they were thinking of in the situation.
Some of them were surprised when they didn't hear Anastasius address Charles as 'Your highness' but they couldn't say a word because they also think it's valid. Listening to them talk makes it hard for anyone to approach them, it's like they're totally out of anyone's league and are on much higher level than everyone.
The only person who was brave enough to butt in their conversation was Casandra, the heroine. She's blushing hard and her eyes were sparkling as she said "I-I want to congratulate you on winning too Your Highness! It's the first time I saw someone theorize a new elixir first hand!"
That certain dialogue rang a bell on Anastasius, he certainly have read it on the novel but he remembers that the heroine only said it after Charles congratulated her first, and they were talking about a different elixir.
"You flatter me, Lady Adalene. But what you've made is pretty hard to make too. For a transferee you're quite promising, if you don't mind, shall I send a representative to make you join our Student Council? Emilién, the current Vice President, may need an assistant you see."
"R-Really? Thank you so much Your Highness! I shall wait for the representative to come over." Cassandra said while bowing over and over again.
Charles didn't think much of it, he just didn't want to waste a talent so he offered a position to the heroine and besides, the position isn't even that important.
Anastasius noticed it too, 'In the novel, he eagerly wanted Cassandra to join the council, he even invited her himself without a use of representative. Why does it seem like he's not as interested with her now as he was in the novel?... Still though... Why do I feel upset that he asked her for a position? I'm going crazy I swear!'
'...Did I really just got jealous that he didn't invite me in it? Ugh this is not the time to be childish now, I don't even want to be one of them. But wait, wasn't she offered the position of the Vice President in the book? Or did I miss the 'assistant' part?'
Anastasius grumbled inwardly. What he didn't know is that Charles have a different reason why he didn't invite Anastasius into it,
'With Anastasius' charms and intellect, it wouldn't take long before the whole student council falls head over heels for him. I must not let that happen.' He thinks while smiling passive aggressively with just the thought of some little flies fawning over his Anastasius.
