Chapter 15!
A slow malicious smirk forms on his chapped lips and the glint in his eyes grows larger when he sees my reaction. Adam stills in front of me when he realises I have stopped walking and turns to look at me but the only thing I can focus on is Jason.
The man who put my brother in a wheel chair. The man who physically hurt me and has me looking over my shoulder in case he's standing in my shadow. However most importantly the man who I once called my uncle.
"Lily? What are you starring at?" Adams distance voice calls out while placing a hand on my shoulder and even though his touch is burning my skin, I still can't pull my eyes away from the devil himself. His cold, vicious eyes are holding my frightened ones captive sending horrible chills to run down my spine.
"Lily?" He repeats stepping in front of me effectively cutting through my line of vision.
I snap my eyes up towards his concerned brown ones. "W-what?" I breathe out, my hands shaking violently.
"I don't know what you are staring at but whatever it is, it's made you turn green!" He spoke glancing over his shoulder trying to find the source of my reaction.
I tugged on his hand effectively pulling him towards me again. "We need to get out of here." I whispered, my voice coming out thick due to the over whelming urge to cry.
Adams facial expressions changed from concerned to worried extremely quickly once my words had sunk in. "Why?! Lily, what's going on?" He questions impatiently.
Taking a deep breath, I turn towards the door and pull Adam along with me not wanting to be around the suffocating presence any longer.
"Lily!" Adam shouts. "Tell me what's going on right now!" He demands digging his feet into the ground and coming to a halt.
I tug at his hand desperately trying to get him to walk again but he is too strong. Tug "I'll explain-" tug "everything later, just please-" tug tug "walk" I beg desperately. I yank at his hand one last time and thankfully feel him beginning to walk again.
"Fine but you better tell me everything because right now I'm more confused than a blonde girl in a romance novel." He states with the same confused tone as before.
Nodding vigorously I push the door open and throw myself out of the restaurant which contains my psycho of an uncle and dart towards Adams car, throwing the door open when I hear the distinct beep of the car doors unlocking.
Taking a deep breathe I turn towards Adam who is now situated in the driver's seat and staring at me in concern. I know he's waiting for me to explain what's going on but to be honest I don't feel safe knowing Jason is less than 40 meters away from me. After what he has done I don't think I'll feel safe until he is safely locked behind bars or has been banished to the furthest corner off earth, in fact I still wouldn't feel safe because known that snake he would find a way slither out of earth completely.
"well..." he trails off raising an eyebrow.
"C-could we maybe go home first." I whisper uneasily, glancing at the restaurant to make sure he's not standing outside holding a chainsaw or some other object you see in scary films.
He nods realising I'm clearly uncomfortable and with one last concerned glance he pulls out of the car park. I pull my knees up to my chest and rest my chin on top of them.
Looking out at the passing scenery of my new town, I wonder what my life would have been like if my auntie didn't remarry and Jason didn't turn out to be a violent ass. I would still be living my old life, at my old high school, with my best friends and soccer team which I would be leading to national and regional completions. I wouldn't have to worry about getting lost in a new town, keeping my love for soccer a secret and preventing Jason from getting close to Max again.
