Chapter 10

Tuesday morning I got ready like I do every day to get ready for school. But last night as I was doing my work that I miss yesterday I get a text from Kendra telling me she got her phone back and she isn't grounded anymore and that we should hang out since she not grounded anymore. But I don't know if I can the way thing went yesterday, like how she be all judgmental and the next she isn't. The Kendra I know wouldn't really judge people after seeing things differently when her dad left her, but lately she has been I think a month after that when things change for her.

I walk into the kitchen to get some breakfast with dad, but instead of him there, Skye is there sitting at the table.

"Um, hi." I said, awkwardly.

"Hi, Estelle. How you been?" Skye asks, watching me making a bowl of cereal.

"Good. You?"

"I'm doing good." she said, with a smile on her face. "Oh, before I forget are you allergic to anything, for I know what not to make for dinner?"

"Um, just seafood that's it." I sit down at the table eating my cereal. It was awkward for few second before coming into the kitchen to get coffee in the travel mug.

"Morning, sweet pea." he gives me a kiss on the head.

"You were going to work already?" he got about fifteen or twenty minutes left before heading in.

"No, I think we made a break in the case. The CSC should be meeting in a parking garage making an exchange and we're going to make an arrest today." he said trying to hurry out the door. "You ready, Vega."

"Yes, but boss shouldn't we call for back first?" Skye said to my Dad as she is walking fast to catch up with him and I followed behind them.

"There no time, if we called we're wasting time to wait for them and they are gone before we caught them in the act." he got to his car ready to get in.

"Estelle reason with your father, he'll listen to you, sweetie." Skye said, turning to me, as if I'm her only hope to reason with him and that he will actually listen to me.

As I look to between them, but then turn to him. "Dad, please call for back up. What will what happened if you didn't? What if bad something happened?" I said, my voice started to break, but I know nothing will happen if I delay his time it will give them more time to warn them. "You promise you take thing safe to come back to me, not after what happened to mom, wouldn't you say wouldn't leave me behind." and he did promise he wouldn't do that to me after losing mom, he says he will come home safe, unharmed and healthy. But what he's doing without calling for backup he is risking a lot, who know what could go down if he didn't call for them something bad could happened him and I be left here wondering what happened to him if he never come home.

"She right, Hart. You all she got left, you can't leave behind." Skye has spoken up after a minute has pass by.

We waited for Dad to say something, it's like he battle himself trying to do what's right to make sure this town is safe. When a minute has passed, he finally speaks.

"Fine, but Vega makes the call right now. We meet them there. Got it." she nodded Dad came over to me and pull me into his bear hug. "I love you, sweetheart. I see you later for dinner, alright." I nodded. After the hug he went back to the car and started heading for the garage parking lot.

Once they are out of sight I hurried inside the house and got my phone and started calling Tyler to warn him about Dad might know where they at. But no such luck so I try texting him but the message fails. So they must be there already where there no service. I hope they leave before Dad and CPD get there and they get sent off to jail. As scenario coming into my mind with Tyler and the crew in handcuff and being sent off to jail I couldn't shake it out of my head as they come through my mind.
