I can't believe I almost forgot this precious gem of this trope. Usually this is how the author gets the two characters to 'bump' into each other. The girl is some clumsy waitress that wasn't paying attention and spilled the hot coffee on some rich cold man.
Lemme tell you what I would do if I had coffee spilled on me. I'mma get my money. People have actually sued places for serving really hot coffee. I'm not saying you can't fall in love with the waiter later. But 2nd degree burns aren't cute sweety. I'mma need my check.
