Jackson arrived home slamming the door of his still empty house, it was 830 now and still no one was back from the failed wedding. He went straight to the fridge throwing back a beer that his mom had bought awhile ago that she never drank. He stood at the counter staring at his phone, the home screen lit up with a picture of him and Sabrina when they graduated, only making him want to drown himself in more and more beer.
Jackson felt his eyes water as he was now realizing that he'd lost his best friend for reasons he couldn't understand. He wiped the tear that was falling before grabbing another beer from the fridge. Sabrina was mad at him for something he knew nothing about. She was mad because she thought Jackson brought Jasmine to the wedding to ruin it but that wasn't what he intended on doing. He just wanted support from someone who was in the same position as him, someone who was afraid to love again just like him, but they were never in the same position and Jackson saw that today, when she stood up and revealed Carson infidelity.
Jackson went upstairs to his room sprawling out on his bed, he laid there staring up at the ceiling many thoughts of Sabrina and him running through his mind, he reached for his necklace only to realize it wasn't there anymore. Only to realize he wasn't Sabrina's moon anymore and she wasn't his sun.
That's when the tears fell, and he finally broke down. He was angry but he was sad as well. He started tossing things around in his room making loud noises, screaming before his phone rang. He wiped his eyes picking it up to see Carter was calling.
"Hello?"
"You home?" Carter asked his voice was comforting,
"No" Jackson lied
"Then someone must be robbing your house seeing as I can hear you throwing things around." Carter said before the front door opened. Jackson hung up the phone kicking the things he threw out of his way and going downstairs to meet Carter at the front door. Carter stood there staring as his friend, it broke Carter's heart to see Jackson like this, Jackson was broken even more than the first time he left Sabrina, this time he had been torn apart. Carter quickly pulled Jackson into a hug and Jackson cried into his shoulder.
"I know buddy, it hurts but it can be fixed. Don't look at this as the end of you two, Sabrina and you are forever, there is no end to it." Jackson pulled away from Carter who was grabbing the back of Jackson's head.
"No Carter this is the end, I can't fix something when I don't even know what I did wrong," Jackson says running his fingers through his hair. "Then lets find out, everyone is at Sabrina's house lets just go see her." Carter says opening the front door trying to lead Jackson over there. Jackson nodded his head taking slow steps, Carter behind him pushing him across the street to the front door.
Carter opened the door only to receive stares from everyone, Sabrina was in the kitchen and once she saw Jackson she left heading for her bedroom. Jackson took a step back trying to escape only for Carter to grab him. "Go talk to her, you lost her once are you really going to lose her again?" Carter says and that was enough for Jackson to walk upstairs and open her door, She was sitting at the edge of her bed holding a wine a glass.
"Sabrina?"
"What are you doing here?"
"What did I do? Why did you send me away, I'm the person that's always there for you, always by your side even when it hurt like hell I stepped back and let you be happy and yet you sent me away, you hate me? Why?" Jackson says closing her bedroom door.
"I'll tell you what you did Jack, You brought her to my wedding, you spent time with her and yet you didn't know that she was seeing Carson? You allowed me to be humiliated at my wedding, Jackson you allowed me to almost marry someone who you knew wasn't good enough for me." Sabrina says putting her wine glass down on the floor.
"What was I suppose to do Sabrina! You were happy, you know I'd never do anything to disrupt you being happy."
"I wasn't happy Jackson! I was never happy with Carson! You left, I was alone I agreed to date Carson because you weren't there. You came back and could you really not see that I wasn't happy with him. The boy I knew in high school would have known in a instant. This boy...he's not the same one I fell in love with. He allowed some girl to distract him from stopping me from getting married, when it should have been you"
Jackson stared at Sabrina confused, she was upset because he didn't call off the wedding, "Sabrina, I thought you were happy, that's all I've ever wanted was for you to be happy. I left five years ago because I thought if the person that confessed there feelings for you was still around you'd feel guilty if you did find someone."
"Well I guess that's when you stopped knowing me, You broke my heart once and you broke again today, twice, once when you didn't object and lord knows I waited, as the days got shorter I waited for you to tell me not to do it. You never did. And a second time when you took your necklace off. I didn't ruin our friendship Jack, you did." Sabrina says
"I don't want to be friends Sabrina, I want to be more than that. There was never a right timming for us. In high school I was avoiding my feeling for you because I didn't want to ruin our friendship, in college I never came back because I thought you hated me for ruining our friendship, and now because I thought you were happy."
"What about right now Jackson. What's wrong with this timming, because your excuses are getting extremely old."
"I don't want to be with you...we didn't even date and look at us, in the same spot I've been trying to avoid for years now. I never wanted are friendship to die because of my feelings for you. And you may not realize it but it has." Jackson says,
"If our friendship is dead, if there is nothing else between us, then get out." Sabrina says pointing to the door, Jackson just broke her heart again not even on purpose, rather Sabrina liked it or not she agreed with his excuse.
"Bri...I never wanted it to get like this..."
"Get out Jackson!" Sabrina yelled throwing a pillow at Jackson's head, he dodge it lucky enough, He sighed before he opened the door going back downstairs to see Carter waiting by the end of the steps. Jackson shook his head before heading towards the door. Carter tried to stop him but Jackson shook him off, closing the door quietly.
Carter waited for Sabrina to make her reappearance and when she did she looked absolutely terrible like she was ready to break down and cry again. Carter ran up the steps pulling her back into the room and closing the door.
"What the hell is wrong with you two?" Carter says walking back and forth as Sabrina stared at him.
"We can't be fixed Carter, it's over this time. Are friendship has died and now there is no way we can make it back to being us again, ever since he came back it was like we were forcing ourselves to just be normal but it was just awful."
"You two can make it back, I know that. Guess I'm the only one that knows that so whatever. I'll do it my damn self" Carter says as he walks out of Sabrina's room, Sabrina watches him shaking her head, she picked up her wine glass staring at the half empty glass.
