My face is wet with tears. I never thought my life would become this. This amazing guy who I would've killed to even have a chance with finally notices me but his crazy ex doesn't want to see me with him.

There's another knock at the door. "Go away Nathan!!!" I scream

"It's not Nathan." a voice says on the other side of the door "It's Alice."

I get off the floor and open the door wrapping my arms around Alice.

Alice steps away and points next to us. Nathan.

I grab her arm pulling her into my room and close the door behind us.

"Nathan called me. He said you wouldn't talk to him. Asked if I could come over and talk to you." her voice is quite like she's scared to upset me.

"How'd he get your number?" I try to keep my emotions inside and act like I really don't care.

"I don't know. Maybe it has to do with the fact that you have a terrible memory and write my number everywhere so you can always call me or something?"Alice says annoyed that I'm trying to keep the conversation away from what she's actually here for. "We're not doing this. What's wrong?"

I look at her but look away. I can't look her in the eyes. She always makes me feel guilty.

"You know you can tell me anything." she says with a sigh sitting on my bed "And if the reason you're pushing Nathan away is because of Sophia, then forget about her she can't really do anything to you."

Lies. I think. Lies that Sophia can't hurt me. She might not be able to kill me but she would definitely make me wish she did.

"What did she say?" she asks sounding very concerned "Did she threaten you? If she did please tell me I just want to help!" a tear slips down her cheek. Alice doesn't like to cry in front of anyone. Me, her family, even her TV!!!! This is a big deal.

Even seeing Alice on the edge of having a breakdown can't change my mind. If I said anything I would start crying with her. Right now I can't cry. It doesn't help that Nathan is probably listening outside the door.

I can only manage to tell Alice one thing. "Leave me alone" my voice is a monotone.

Alice looks up at me in shock. "Wait, Hayley. Please. You need to talk to me." I look away hoping she understands. She does and leaves but I know that I've hurt her and that hurts me.
