7 Months Later

"Put me down!!!" I scream through my laughs.

"Never!!" Nathan screams running into the cold ocean with me over his shoulder.

"Come on Nath!!! It's not funny!!!" I punch my fists into his back.

"Nathan!!" Alice screams from the sand "You should really listen to her!! Put her down!!" She jokes.

"Well if that's really what you want." Nathan says flipping me to his front and dropping me into the cold water.

"Nathan!!!" I scream! I did not expect the water to be that cold!!!

"What you asked me to put you down so I did!" Nathan said trying not to burst out laughing.

I splash him back and we have a little splash war between the two of us. The waters freezing and i'm shivering. Nathan sees me and stops splashing to pick me up and run me out of the water. He sits me down on a towel next to Alice and her current boyfriend Ryan. He grabs two towels and wraps one around me and the other around himself. He sits down next to me and I lean my head on his shoulder.

The beach is mostly empty. There are some other people but not many since it's only April and still a little cold to be at the beach not that we care. Me and Nathan watch the sunset, me with my head on his shoulder and him with an arm around me holding me close. As the sun is almost set we hear a rumble of thunder and see storm clouds coming.

This startles even Alice and Ryan who didn't even pay any attention to me and Nath coming back. We all grab our stuff and run to the house we're staying in. We run into the house dropping all of our stuff.

"Wow! I'm surprised you kids stayed at the beach that long!" Alice's step-mom says coming towards the front door to greet us. Alice invited us all to her family's summer house for spring break and what could we do? Say no? "Hayley! You and Nathan went swimming? You must be crazy! Come. Come! Why don't you all clean up for dinner."

We do as she said. Me and Alice go back to the room we're staying in and the boys back to theirs.

"I can't believe we're already going home tomorrow!" Alice says once we're back in the room.

"I know. This has been the best spring break!" I say going into the shower. After I'm done in the bathroom I let Alice in and finish getting ready. Soon we're both cleaned up and head down to dinner.

When we get down stairs Nathan and Ryan are sitting around the fireplace with Alice's dad. Alice's mom walks in from the dining room. She calls us all in for dinner. We all eat slowly and all think the same thing. I can't believe that it's already over.

After dinner is cleaned up Nathan pulls me aside and asks if we can talk somewhere. Of course my answer is yes. He guides me out towards the back of the house and we go out onto the deck, still wet from the short rain that just past.

"I have to tell you something." He says looking into my eyes. His tone is almost sad. Like he doesn't want to tell me but has to.

"What is it?" I ask trying to hide the concern from my voice. But from Nathan's pained facial expression I'm guessing I didn't do a good job.

"Well... a few months ago I auditioned for a band..." He says this slowly.

"And you didn't make it?" I ask quickly hoping that that's what Nathan didn't want to tell me.

"No. Hayley I made it. I'm in the band." Nathan says.

"Well that's great!!!!" I say excitedly not understanding what the problem is.

He turns his face away from me and looks out at the calm ocean. "Hayley. I have to move to London. Right after school ends I have to leave."

And then I understand what he's saying. We only have a few more months together.
