As we drive down the road, he turns up the volume to the radio. It was 'Know Me Too Well' by New Hope Club.
"Cause you know me too, you know me too well!" He sang, dancing in his seat. I knew the song, but I hated singing in front of others. He looked at me and bumped me, "sing!!" He said, trying to talk over the music. I shrugged.
"I'm good." I laughed a little. He playfully rolled his eyes and kept singing.
"I, spend my weekends, trying to get you off my mind again, but I can't make it stop.." he sang, turning the corner. I laughed. Then it hit me... I turned the volume down.
"Where are we going?" I asked. He looked at me and back at the road.
"Wherever." He said, turning the music back up. I kept my eye so the road, seeing where we were headed.
Minutes pass and he turns down a street, revealing tons of cars and shops. Where were we? It's like he read my mind because he answered.
"They call it the Grove. It's the busy part of town where everyone like to hang out." He said, pulling into a parking spot. I can't believe he found one so fast in all this traffic. We both stepped out and Payton came up behind me. He lightly placed his hand on my waist on the right side, standing on the left, "where to first?" He asked. I stared at all the stores, choosing a clothing shop with a modern blue sign. We both wen to the sidewalk, walking to the store. Once we arrive, he sets down his hand from my side and we look around. I find a white Thrasher crop top. I absolutely love this... I pull it off the rack and come up to Payton.
"Do you like it?" I asked, waiting for his response.
"Only if you like it," he smiled. Oh god, his smile. I almost died at how adorable...
"That's literally no help at all," I laughed, going to put it back. He ran after me, placing his hand on my shoulder.
"No, no!! I do like it. Honestly," He says. I smiled a little. I still went to put it back, but he grabbed it and held it up, "I said I like it." He said, staring at me.
"I know, but it's a lot of money." I said. I know he was probably like your fucking rich stfu.
"I'll buy it." He said. My eyes went wide.
"No, don't do that," I said. He shrugged, walking up to the cashier. I chased after him, laughing a little. I grab his shoulders and pull him back, "doooon't!!" I whined. He laughed, turning to face me. Payton scrunched his face and pushed me back so I couldn't reach him. He took off down one of the short aisles and pretended as if he was shopping. He peeked back at me, pretending as if I didn't know him. He rushed up to the cashier and stood in line behind the person in front of him. I mouthed 'Dont' but he waved, pretending he didn't understand what I said. Just as I run to get the shirt, he was up next. He placed the shirt down and the lady scanned it. I was already too close to him to back away without looking like an idiot so I stood next to him. He poked my side, causing me to yelp a little. The lady typed a few things on her keyboard and turned to face us.
"Do either of you have reward points for us?" She asked. We both said no, "would you like to sign up?" She asked. As I was about to say no, Payton said yes. He gave her my number and looked at me real quick, catching my surprised expression. He tried not to laugh, "Alright, that's 87.45" she said, waiting for one of us to pay. Payton let out a slight 'whooo' and patted the counter. I laughed a little, pulling out my credit card. He pushed my hand down.
"I'm paying..." he said, pulling out his card. I swatted my hand at him.
"Awh, you're boyfriend's paying." The lady said, trying to take his credit card. Payton pulled it away a little.
