How Opposites Attract

Chapter Two

Mila and I arrived at Will's and ordered coffee. We sat down at a booth and hear a group of people enter the cafe. I turn to see who it was and of course it was none other than my brother and his friends including Aaron. Mila moved up next to me so that both of our backs were facing the boys in attempt to avoid them knowing that I had no interest in socializing today. We hid our faces with our menus even though we've already ordered.
"Shit," I whispered to Mila.
"I know right. Kinda funny though. You know, that you came here to escape them and they decide to come here," replied Mila with a chuckle.
"Yeah maybe for you, you and Aaron are friends."
"Not really friends, just dont hate each other with a fiery passion."
"Same difference.Shit. Shit. Shit. They're coming this way."
They had all ordered and walked to the booth a couple rows in front of us. We both moved to the other side of the booth so our backs faced them again. I think they noticed us moving to avoid them because just then Max got up and started walking towards us.
"Shiiiiiiiiiiit. Oh, hi Max. Didn't see you there. Did you just come in?" I asked my brother while looking up to him with a very fake smile.
"Oh please I saw you slide to the other side the second we walked in," he replied with a smirk.
"Sorry about that, you know anti-social your sister can be," Mila said with a smile.
"Shut up, it's been a long week and school just ended, I'm allowed to be tired," I said.
"Okay well we're not staying, we're going home in a few minutes," said Max
"Us too, we'll walk with you," said Mila hastily.
"Mila!" I said annoyed.
"I'm sorry but it's summer now and you have to at least try to my social."
Max smiled and said he'd see us in a bit and walked back to his booth.
"God Mila do you hate me? Do you really hate me? What'd I do?"
"Of course not Zo"
"I know what this is. You just want to hang out with Max."
"Oh please"
"You just raised your pitch and avoided eye contact! You always do that when you're lying!"
"Zo, you can't say anything okay?"
"Bro your acting like this is new. You've a crush on him since like sixth grade. Literally everyone ships you two...including me!"
"Yeah I know I just-"
She was interrupted by Jadon, one of Max's friends.
"Hey guys, sorry to interrupt but we're leaving now," Jaden said smiling.
"Okay you go we'll catch up," I said.
I liked my brothers friends. They were cool. We were all friends with each other and hung out all the time. I dont know why I refer to them as my brothers friends when we hang out almost as much. This is, of coarse, excluding Aaron.
The boys walked ahead and Mila and I paid and left trying catch up to them.
"Hurry up slow pokes!" I hear someone shout soon after realizing it was Aaron.
"Thats really the best you can do?" I said as we caught up to them.
"Wow funny, thats exactly what your mom said to your dad when she had you," replied Aaron with a laugh. The boys also laughed and looked at me expecting a reply.
"Nice one, Aaron," said Max.
"Oh please, the only thing you've ever done well at is when you passed the STD test."
The guys started laughing and nudging Aaron. He just rolled his eyes and kept walking. A few minutes later we got to my house.
My dad was in Tokyo for business for the summer. We all headed upstairs. The boys headed to Max room and Mila and I headed to mine but just before we could enter Max grabbed us by our arms.
"Oh no you don't. Remember what Mila said, just try be social," he said.
"But I'm tirrred!"
"Me too actually," said Mila.
"Fine have a nap but me and me boys are going to a party tonight and you're both coming."
"If we agree can we go to sleep?" I asked with a groan.
"Yes"
"Then yes."
"Good. Be ready by ten when we leave."
"Wow, did little miss "Socialite" agree to come?" Said Aaron sticking his head out of the door to Max's room.
"Bite me," I replied and shut the door to my room.
"Gladly!" I heard him shout through the door.
I laughed and shook my head.
"I'm sorry did you just smile at something that Aaron said?" asked Mila with a huge smile.
"I laughed because it was a pathetic comeback."
"Well you've done better than 'bite me', sorry hun."
"I'm sorry who's side are you on?
"Okay sorry little miss-"
"I dare you to finish that sentence."
We laughed and went to sleep. A couple hours later we woke up drenched in water.
I opened my eyes and saw the boys pouring water on us.
"Stoooop!" I said.
We immediately got up and started chasing them. Mila of course was chasing my brother and I was chasing Jaden. As I ran down the stairs someone poured a whole bucket of water on me and when i looked up can you guess who I saw? Yup. Aaron. Who else? I ditched Jaden and chased Aaron at full speed. He slipped on some spilt water and fell over. I tripped over him while chasing him and landed right on top of him. We just started laughing. Then I realized the position i was in and immediately got up. I looked him up and down and noticed something sticking out of his pants. I was horrified. Disgusted.
"Oh my god Aaron! Wtf how desperate are you?"
He was confused at first then looked down and realized what i was taking about.
He laughed and said, "Don't flatter yourself, it's just my phone."
My face turned so red I should've been in the vegetable isle at the grocery store. Aaron just kept laughing.
"Don't you dare tell a soul about this Aaron I swear to god."
"I'll do what I like thank you very much," he said while getting up.
I rolled my eyes, sighed and went to my room.
"Zoë come on we have to get ready!"said Mila.
"What?"
"For the party! Did you forget?"
"Damn. Do I have to go?"
"Well I sure as hell am not going alone."
"Okay ,okay fine I'll get ready."
I wore a red, lace, spaghetti-strap top and a black, denim jeans with a cropped black, denim jacket and high heeled black boots with hoop earrings. I straightened my hair, did my makeup and lent Mila some clothes to wear since she was also soaked. I went downstairs and hung out with the boys while you waited for Mila to finish up.
"Wow so princess is in fact capable of not looking homeless," remarked Aaron while nudging Ant (another one of our friends) with his elbow and chuckling.
"Hey, Aaron, are you growing a beard? Oh wait, you have to hit puberty before you can do that," I replied.
The boys started laughing but then soon stopped and got up when Max told us the Uber was here. Everyone put on their jackets and left the house.
