The next few days were quite unbearable for Pari. She could not figure why or what made her feel this way. Whenever she saw Sara and Dev together a wave of sadness hit her. She could not possibly be jealous of them could she? No she was married! But maybe she longed for the happiness Dev had with Sara. Yeah that would be it. She wanted the happiness they had.
"Good morning, I see frosty the snowman has recovered from the cold?" Dev laughed.
"You're mean!" Pari said and smiled. Dev made her smile. He was the only person that made her smile lately. Even if she had a lot of reason not to smile.
Luckily some of her wounds were healing, so she did not have to put on too many clothes.
"I brought you the reports you wanted."
"Thank you!" She thanked him and took the reports. Pari filed through the reports. Dev sat down next to her and helped her with her work. It was normal for them to work together nowadays. Dev wanted to spend as much time with her as possible, so they just did their work together.
"I think there's a mistake here!" Pari pointed to the paper.
Dev got closer and had a look.
"You're right, let me fix that!"
Dev took a pen and corrected the mistake. While doing so Dev was awfully close to her. Something they both did not know was how their hearts started to beat faster. Both did not want to point why. Maybe they were just not used to it, at least not anymore.Their work was interrupted by someone clearing their throat. None other than Sara. Dev immediately backed up and realised how close he was to Pari. "Sara, what a surprise.." Dev said and stood up to greet her.
Pari was annoyed and tried to focus on her work. Sara had visited him way too often the past days. Something about this woman made Pari dislike her. She just hated how she was basically hanging herself onto him. Pari immediately stopped these idiotic thoughts. It was not her way to hate someone. "Nice to see you Sara.." Pari mumbled. She wanted to be nice. That's the least she could do. Dev had introduced them to each other the other day and she seemed important to Dev, that's why she did not want to be rude. Especially since she had no reason to hate her. Sara seemed like a good person for Dev. "I'll see you later Pari." Dev said and went into his office with her.Pari let out a deep sigh. What kind of games were her heart and mind playing with her. She tried to focus on her work, but was visibly failing.
She tried to understand her thoughts, but without any luck. Pari stayed clueless. The day slowly passed by and finally it was lunch time. Maybe now she would get to spend some time with Dev she thought. Pari did not want to seem eager so she stayed in her office and hoped he would come and ask her out for lunch. She did not want to disturb him incase Sara was still there, which she probably was. Half an hour later Pari realised that he would not come and ask her. How stupid of her to think he would come and ask her.
Pari went into the hallway and to her luck his assistant was standing there talking to some men.
"Excuse me Julie, do you know where Dev is?" Pari asked.
"Mr. Khanna went out for lunch with his girlfriend." Julie replied.
"Thank you." Pari said and went back inside her office. She did not want to show her disappointment. Pari felt a mix of hurt and sadness. How silly of her to think he would go out for lunch with her when his girlfriend was there.Pari had lost her appetite. She just worked and hoped she could get her mind of things with that. Pari finished off all he work and started to pack her stuff. She was so ready for this day to be over. She grabbed her bag and walked towards the door. There she was surprisingly greeted with a familiar face.
"Kabir what are you doing here?" She said in shock.
"Happy to see me my love?" Kabir said.
