Pari had thoroughly enjoyed their first "date" - she wasn't exactly sure if it was a date in the proper sense. The next couple of days passed by and she felt closer and closer to Dev. His loving care toward her really swept her heart up. She really wanted him to take her in his arms and kiss her passionately like the previous occasion but such opportunity didn't eventuate.
They had dropped into a comfortable routine at Dev's apartment however Pari couldn't shrug off the fact that half of her life was still at her own house - well Kabir's house. She wasn't even sure of her belongings were still there. What if Kabir has destroyed them all? Had he even been back there? She wanted to go and collect her passport and other documentation at the very least. Everything else would be replaced. She also couldn't continue to impinge on Dev's hospitality for too long. She needed to get back to her own life and even return to work. But where was Kabir? He was always in the back of her mind. She didn't want him making an appearance again and trying to hurt Dev. If she removed herself from Dev then he would be safe and that was another reason why she wanted to find her own footing again - to live her own life. She didn't care if he hurt her.Dev had left for work early that day. Pari woke up later than usual and slowly got ready for the day. She had planned to go back to Kabir's home to retrieve her belongings. She had to get this done - somehow in her mind this was the first step she was taking to starting her new journey. And she didn't want to involve Dev in it. She subconsciously realised it may be stupid to go a lone but she had to do this - to reclaim her freedom, her life. To finally put an end to that horrible chapter.
She called a taxi, gave the address and anxiously waited as they passed familiar roads toward her house. She prayed that Kabir wouldn't be game enough to return home. The police were still on the hunt for him and so far they hadn't been able to locate him. She hated knowing he was out there somewhere, but didn't want to live her life in fear forever. What if they never found Kabir? Would she hide away forever? No!
"Miss we're here." The drivers voice shook her out of her thoughts. She looked out and there it was, her home - ex home. It looked peaceful and undisturbed, like nothing bad had ever happened inside it. She paid the fare and got out feeling a little anxious to go toward the house. She didn't have her keys with her but knew a spare was hidden under a flower pot next to the front door.
Taking a deep breath she walked up to the door. The key was under the pot and she unlocked the door and walked inside. The house looked undisturbed and she felt a shiver run down her back - she hoped Kabir wasn't here.
