Two Years Later

She breathed in slowly, inhaling the newborn spring air as she embraced the daylight. Her small white cat rested on her petite shoulder and she held it lovingly. The twenty-one year old adored the springtime, so the moment she noticed a change in season, she went outside like a little child.

Her tree was in bloom as well as the plants she took great care of.

"Ah, Hikaru," The woman commented to her cat, "Don't you think these flowers look beautiful already?"

The cat meowed lightly in response as the girl laughed gleefully, "I'm so glad!"

She noticed a change in the air. Hanata Airi was very keen on noticing a presence nearby. However, nobody was there. When there was a familiar presence, she would know. She felt her childhood friend's presence all the time, thinking about her, watching her, protecting her.

Even though he was dead.

He sat on the outskirts of headquarters. Observing the scenery before him. The trees were as green as ever, the breeze flowing through his dark hair. His crow sat on his shoulder, for he was not needed anywhere this time of day.

He always thought about him, his late friend. The death of his best friend followed him everywhere, even though it was not his fault. He felt that he was unworthy of being of high regard. He regretted his whole life. Tomioka Giyū wanted to throw it all away. And yet, he still felt his friend encouraging him to push forward, as if he was still alive.

The two looked out to the horizon separately. Airi felt her late friend's presence no longer with her. She felt something change. She felt like the chains of a tragic death had been released that morning.

A thought ran through both of their minds that moment,

'He finally is resting in peace.'

Present Time.

"Wake up. Hey, I said wake up. Wake... Hey! Hey you!" A male Kakushi spoke intensely, "C'mon, you! C'mon!"

The Kakushi rose his elbow angrily, feeling utterly stressed, "Are you gonna sleep all day? Wake the hell up, will you?"

The burgundy haired boy looked up shockingly, staring at the slayers standing before him. The boy had cuts all over his face and his hands were tied by rope. Airi couldn't believe the boy she once knew was in this state.
