Chapter 35

You breathe intensely, your hands start to sweat, and you're hesitant. You raise your hand, about to knock on the door but before you could, you stop and turn around and decide not to.

But then you turn around again, facing the door. And then you look away from the door. So you're basically walking in a circle.

You've been doing this for the past 20 minutes. You were afraid to face Jungkook since till probably awkward between you and him now.

You inhale and exhale deeply before finally deciding to woman up.

You slowly raise your arm, about to knock on the door, but before you could even touch the door, the door flings open and you freeze.

There stood jungkook, holding a trash bag in his hand. You gulp before looking up at his eyes.

"I wanted to talk to you"

"So how have you been?" You ask him while walking towards his couch. "You've been awfully distant from us and I thought something bad might've happened in your house" you explain.

He takes a seat next to you. He doesn't say a word for a few seconds, trying to think of a way to explain why he's been distant.

He didn't want to tell you his feeling, but the look on your face made him feel pressured. He didn't want your relationship with him to be awkward. He didn't want it to be any different because he liked how things were now.

"Jungkook?" You call out his name, and he looks at you in the eyes. "Will you tell me why you're acting like this?" You ask, and he looks away from you. You begin to feel frustrated from how he's acting, but then you realize it might've been something personal for him to say, so you decide to give him some time to gather his thoughts. "I can leave if you want-"

"No," he says before gulping. "I want to take you somewhere," he states. "I just feel like this isn't the right place to say it."

You were confused, but since you were eager to find out his reason, you agreed to go with him.

The temperature inside his car was extremely hot. You felt sweat dripping off your forehead and you begin to fan yourself with your hands. You spot a water bottle on the cup holder.

"May I drink this? I'm a bit hot" you say before chuckling. He nods in response. You take the lid off and chugged the bottle.

"So how's jimin?" Jimin asks, and you freeze before spitting out your water.

"Be careful, that won't be the only thing that'll be choking you,"

You spit your water out before choking again, coughing endlessly. Taehyung laughs while Jimin sat there, smirking at you. You give him a death glare.

You put your last pancake piece in your mouth and frustratedly grabbed your plate to wash it.

"I'm going out," you say before grabbing your phone and coat to leave.

"Are ok?! Was the water bad?!" Jungkook asks, worried. You instantly shake your head in no.

"I.. I saw a bug, and I tried to kill it with water," you stutter out.

Jungkook decided to shrug it out, not wanting to ask any further questions. After a while of driving, you've finally arrived to your destination.

You both get out the car. Once you turned away from the car to look where you were, you gasp in amusement. The scenery in front of you was breathtaking, your eyes started to tear up a little bit.

"What is this place," you ask Jungkook that was smiling a little bit. "This place is absolutely beautiful."

"I knew you would like it," he says before shoving his hands in his pocket. "Follow me" you nod and followed him.

You and Jungkook were walking down a path, and to the sides, were cherry blossoms. You and your mom used to always walk in this path and sometimes have picnics. While thinking of this memory, you smile to yourself.

"I forgot, I've actually been here with my mom before," you say. "It's been a long time since I've been here."

"Oh really? I've actually been here a lot too," he says.

The both of you kept walking down the path until you've reached a bench, you stopped to sit down to admire the cherry blossoms.

"So why did you take me here?" You ask and he faces you.

"I wanted to tell you something that I've been hiding. It's also the reason why I've been distant with you and Jimin" he says and starts to play with hands.

"Go ahead, I'm all ears." You smile.

"In high school, I used to be all caught up with the fame. People always looked at me and admired me, and basically praised me. I liked being the center of attention. And because of that, I started being a jerk. Then I saw your sister. Many boys seemed to like her, so I thought if a handsome man and pretty woman would be together, it would give me more attention. I didn't realize how wrong I was because inside, I hated it after a while. I had girls fangirling, people stalking me, and confessions that I had to turn down. I know it doesn't seem like I care about confessions, but I actually felt bad for turning them down. Anyways, to keep my reputation of being a "cool" guy, I've decided to bully people. One of those people was you. You seemed like an easy target, so I chose you as my main person to annoy. I didn't realize Wendy was your sister and that she was already giving you hard time at home. I felt bad for adding on to your problems." Jungkook start to have tears in his eyes."I'm really sorry I did that to you," he says.

"Jungkook, I've already forgotten the old you. I've forgiven you already. You don't have to apologize anymore. I'm truly grateful for the things you've been doing for me, like being a great friend and always looking out for me." You say.

"But still. I was blind by fame and attention, and I failed to realize that you were hurting so much because of me."Jungkook adds."But after we became friends and started to get to know more about each other, you've opened my eyes. You were the one that made me realize that being popular isn't the only thing that can make people like me. It was just a ridiculous method I used to make people like me. You made me realize that being kind to others and that having a kind heart could make a lot of people like me. Not because of my fame, but because I had a kind heart. I just wanted to thank you for that because I finally know that fame and attention isn't all I wanted. I wanted someone who could like me because of me, not because of my money and fame."

"Of course. I'm glad I could help."You smile at him and wiped his few tears drops.

"But that's not why I've been avoiding you," he says.

"Then why-"

"After being closer to you and learning much more about you, I started to feel the need to protect you, to take care of you, and I wanted to make sure that nothing could hurt your feelings. I didn't know what this feeling meant, but after I saw you and Jimin get closer to you, I felt hurt and heartbroken. Jimin told me that he was going to ask you to be his girlfriend and I knew that I wouldn't be able to handle the pain that's in my heat, so I started avoiding you guys."

Your eyes widen.

"You don't mean you-"

"Y/n, I like you"
