Teenagers

You want me to be a child
But don't want me to act childish.
You want me to act like an adult
But I'm still 'too young' to understand.
I clearly don't.
You want me to be a normal teen
But won't allow that.
You don't want me to be angry
Or hormonal
You don't want me to stay out at night
Don't want me to break things
Cause trouble.
You want a 'normal' teenager.
You should be thankful I'm not
Or I would be so much worse.
There's two paths for teens to take.
No wrong or right.
Either trouble causer
Or depressed.
And that's so fucked up.
We should be happy.
Find me a happy teenager
And I'll be shocked.
What do you want us to do.
We're not children
Don't treat us like we are.
We're not adults.
Don't act like we are.
I know we're irrational.
We don't know how we want to be treated.
So help us...
Where do teenagers belong?
How are we meant to act?
Who are we meant to be?
Cause I just feel lost...
