Chapter 38 - Change in Plans

::Andromeda's POV::

As soon as I saw her, it was like every bit of intoxication evaporated instantly.

"Lexi?"

The boy next to her looked like a little confused version of Jah. Wait, was that Aiden?

Holy shit, it was. I recognized him from Ski's dream.

My fists balled subconsciously. All the partying and fun was just to distract us as he kidnapped our siblings.

Before I could stop myself, I found my fist flying at Carlos, decking him in the chin. He hit the floor and didn't get up. I almost felt bad, but then again he took my sister.

Jah's angry face showed some surprise but quickly went back to angry.

"How long have you been here?" Jah asked his brother quietly but he didn't answer. He looked like he was in shock. After a moment or two, my sister spoke.

"He came and got us on your birthday." She said to me.

"That was Tuesday... what have y'all been doing since then?"

"He been keeping us in some room with a bunch of huge gummy snacks. He blindfolded us when he was taking us to the room so I don't remember how to get there, I only know the inside."

I silently cursed and untied my sister and Jah untied Aiden. Then I went around the side of his desk and started the pulling drawers out looking for the notebook. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Aiden hug his brother tightly. I couldn't help but feel what he was feeling. Everyone on the outside thinks Jah and Ski died a while ago and here he is. I decided not to ruin it.

I heard sniffling. I glanced back over and saw Aiden sobbing, "You're alive..."

I had Lexi help look through the filing cabinets while I searched the desk.

"It has a weird N on the front. If you see it, that's it."

"N? What's the N for I thought his name was Carlos." Lexi asked as she pulled.

"Netherrack, Netherryn, Netherworld, one of them. I don't know." I responded without pausing.

"Netherrwhat?"

"Aliens."

"I- I don't know what you been drinking but under these circumstances, I'd love a shot or 2."

"When you're older, of course."

"You're not even old enough to drink yourself."

"Older than you."

"I didn't miss you that much."

"Likewise."

She mumbled something and started looking. About a minute later, Carlos started regaining consciousness and Lexi and I froze. Jah stomped over and kicked him in the forehead, knocking him out again.

"You find it yet?" Jah asked as he started looking though a different filing cabinet. Aiden followed suit and started checking through a bunch of folders.

"Not yet..." I responded, flipping through another notebook. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Yea what's up"

"Outside." I nodded my head towards the door

He put down the folder that was in his hand and stepped over the mess of paper on the floor in front of him.

"If he starts to come to, just stomp on his head until you knock him out again." I instructed our siblings.

"Wait wait wait if you two leave how are we supposed to know if we find it?" Lexi ask referring to the notebook.

"I already told you what it looks like."

"I forget." She replied flatly. I rolled my eyes and stepped over Carlos's unconscious heap of a body and put my thump in the middle of her forehead. The skin under my finger began to glow. Image transferred.

She stumbled backwards almost into a filing cabinet.

"How the hell did you do that?!

"Just find the damn book." I closed the door behind me and exhaled loudly. "I can't believe this.. all this time. He was distracting us and we fell for it."

"Don't beat yourself up. At least now we know they're alive. When I was in the cage, Carlos used to tell me about all the things he'd do to Aiden if I stepped outta line again. Sometimes he actually convinced me he already had done something to him, so to see him now is... fucking relieving." He ended with a small smile.

"Do you think you could erase his memory?"

"Not completely. I've been practicing and I may be able to erase bits and pieces but not entirely. How much do you want to erase?" Jah asked.

"I definitely don't need this psycho to wake up remembering that I knocked him out, he probably will kill them then..." I sat and thought for a minute. "I mean... we could kill him now."

"Andromeda!" Jah exclaimed.

"Is it really such a bad idea? Everyone in here was abducted. Nobody has seen their families in weeks, months or years and he's really a terrible guy. After everything he's done to you, does eliminating him feel wrong?"

I could see the contemplation in his face as he was quiet for a second.

"Jah... we really could do it."

"Are we telling Ski and Paris?" He spoke after careful consideration.

"Eventually, but right now? We just gotta make sure he's outta the question."

"We can't just do it in front of them." He jerked his chin towards the door. I shrugged.

"Lexi already thinks I'm crazy so killing a man in front of her wouldn't help that." I let out a loud sigh, leaning forward and putting my elbows on my knees.

"You could erase their memories." Jah suggested, towering over me.

"I could..." I thought about what to do and an excellent diversion plan came into my mind. I explained to Jah and he went along with it. We snuck past the kitchen with Aiden and Lexi and hid them in my room. Aiden didn't want Jah to leave but he told him that he was going to get us all out of here tonight, he just had to bare with us.

After a little convincing, Aiden obliged and Jah and I made our way back to Carlos's office. He was still laying unconscious on the floor which was perfect. Jah took out his pocket knife and cut his palm, seeming unfazed by the pain and I found the pills he would feed everyone and spilled them all over his desk. Jah smeared some of his blood next to Carlos' mouth. I nodded at Jah when he was finished.

I screamed as loud as I could.

"SOMEBODY COME QUICK!"
