Tori's Savior (On Hold For A Bit)

Chapter 8

Kate's POV

Finally! I am getting out of this godforsaken hospital. I have been stuck in here for at least a couple months. I honestly lost track of the time. All I know is, I dreaded every moment in that place of misery and death. Well, maybe not every moment. I smile softly to myself as I think of Caterina. I am surprised she is not with me this morning, as she had been every morning since I was emitted. Waking up to her beautiful brown eyes was always what kept me going. She herself is what kept me going. Ever since middle school.

      *Flashback*

"Get out of here, Dork!"
" Nobody loves you"
"You are a worthless piece of shit"
"Your brother talks to a puppet, I bet you do as well! What a couple of losers!"
"I bet her whole family is puppets!"
I am surrounded by a mess of hateful kids, all screaming these obscenities at me. I try walking away from the bullies, only to get pushed back into some lockers. I look around and spot Robert, who is standing right at the end of the hallway, just out of sight from the hateful bullies. I am begging him with my eyes to help me from these monsters. He seems to notice me looking at him, but does nothing. He looks at the ground, the kids, and then finally looks at me. He is doing nothing. My older brother is scared to stick up for me. I see some of the bullies coming closer. Oh no. They are about to jump me. I brace myself for the impact. Shutting my eyes,I kneel down to the floor.

"Leave her alone!"

Huh? I open my eyes and look around to see who that voice belonged to. The bullies turn around as well, startled by the commotion that was just made. Up walks a girl who, to me, looks like an absolute angel. She's got long red hair, and big beautiful brown eyes.

The bullies look at each other and start laughing. The  one who I am presuming is the leader steps up and gets close to the girl.  "Well, well, well. If it is not the other girl with a weird brother? What makes you think you can stop us, Valentine?"

The girl gets a smile on her face. " If you do not listen to me I will have to get Jade. I am sure you don't want that."

I have heard of this "Jade" character. She is presumably, the most horrifying girl in school. I am told she carries around scissors. I flinch at the idea of her ever using those scissors on anyone. I look between the girl and the bullies. The bully looks at the girl with a horrified face, but stands her ground. "I ain't going anywhere, Valentine. Get Jade, she is not all that scary."  I see a shadow of another girl, come up behind the red haired beauty. " You called?" The girl is taller than the red haired beauty but not by much. She has on all black clothing, and her boots are made of leather. The girl, I believe is Jade, looks at the bully with a scowl. She then looks down at me. "What you doing to my friend there?" Friend? I do not even know this girl. She scares the hell out of me. Why would I be her friend?

The bully looks at Jade, then to me, and growls. " I will not give up this easily, West." Jade laughs loudly, almost like a maniac. She points to the group of bullies. "Here is what will happen. You and your little posse there are going to leave this poor girl alone, Or Cat and I will come back. When we come back, Cat will bring her annoying brother and I will stab you with my scissors. And I will enjoy it. "

That did it, the group of bullies looked at one another, then ran away from Jade and the beautiful girl next to her. " Oh My God, are you okay?"  The red haired girl came up to me and held out her hand. I look at her, and I can see the worried passion in her eyes. I dust myself off, trying to look cool. "Yeah I am fine. Just a bit roughed up, but I will be okay. Thank you so much, both of you." Jade smiles at me like a antagonist from a Disney movie. "No problem, but of course, you owe me now. I won't say how or when, but you owe me." I chuckle a bit at this statement. The shorter girl comes up close to me, holding out her hand. " By the way, I am Caterina Valentine. Most people just call me Cat." I take her hand and shake it. Her hands are so soft like a kitten. She smiles really big at me. I swear I can see the stars in her eyes. We both stand there for a minute looking at each other, completely forgetting about our surroundings for a moment. That is, until some kid knocked over the damn trash can. That brought us back to reality, both of our faces blushing. Caterina looks around and spots Jade, as if for the first time today. "And that is Jadelyn, but we call her Jade."  I wave at Jadelyn and she gives me the death glare. "I am Katelyn, it is so nice to meet you both". Jadelyn then looks at the both of us, annoyed. "Well, I am going to go get some coffee." And with that, she takes off down the hallway. Caterina turned to me and smiled. "Do not mind her, she is not very social." I smile warmly at her, then suddenly I feel a sharp pain all around my body from where those jerks hit me. I gasp from the pain.  "You are hurt!" She comes closer to me, and puts her arm around me to help lift me up. "Caterina, I will be oka-" "  "Kate, let me help you! Please!"  I looked at her thoroughly. She really did want to help me. I looked at the condition I was in and I reluctantly nodded my head and agreed to let her help me. "Good, now let's go get you to someone who can help."

For the next hour we sat there, talking about ourselves and getting to know each other. The nurse looked at us every now and again for our language, but we are 12 year old girls, so what did she expect?

  *End of flashback*

Looking back on the day brings me some joy. It was the day I met Caterina. The most amazing, wonderful girl, I would ever get to know. Up until now we have been best friends, but I know she felt that spark between us years ago as well. That was the moment I knew I was falling for this girl.

"Kate!" Suddenly, I have someone hugging up on me from behind as close as they can without hurting me. I know that hug and I know that voice.  I smile as I start hugging back. My heart beating a thousand miles per second. "Caterina" I turn to face her and give her an actual hug, holding her tightly. I never want to let go. "You are getting out today. I am so glad, Kate. I was so worried about you." I smile and link my arm with hers. "Yeah, I am also glad to be getting out of here. This place is sad." Caterina looks at me and smiled warmly. We start to walk out of the hospital when Caterina turns to me, with that sparkle in her eyes that I love so much. "So what are we going to do first, Kate?"

"I know he already paid for what he did, since he is in jail but, I want to get back at Ryder for what he did."
