Tori's Savior (On Hold For A Bit)

Chapter 4

Cat's POV

I put my phone down, and a flash of worry came over me. Who was Jade talking about? I thought back to what she had said.  "Someone you want to see". What could she have meant by that? Suddenly there was a small movement next to me. I covered my mouth from my Yelp. I was so caught up in what Jade had said, that I forgot Tori was right next to me. I felt her hand go on my foot. "Kit Cat? What's wrong?" I flashed a small smile to my best friend. "Nothing Tori. We do need to get up and leave though." I sat up and began collecting my things. Those thoughts keep coming into my head. Who was in the hospital? Was it my Nona? Or was it someone else? I didn't even notice that Tori tried to sit herself up until she winced in pain.  I jumped towards her. "Tori! Don't do that by yourself. Let me help you!" I put an arm under her shoulder and helped her up.  She smiled.  "Thanks Kit Cat, but where are we going?"
"Well, Jade called and said someone I wanted to see is at the hospital and to take you with me." The smile was gone. She looked a bit scared. "Did she say who?" I shook my head. " No, I was kind of thinking it was my Nona.. Or another family member.." She pulled me into a tight hug, but her voice turned very serious. " You don't think it could be... Kate?... Do you?.. " The thought never occurred to me. Kate, the girl Im hopelessly in love with, in the hospital? We just learned she was missing a few days ago.. I have hoped and dreamed she would come home safe, Not down in a hospital bed. I felt the tears burning up in my eyes.  Tori sensed this, and hugged me tighter. I pulled away after a couple of minutes. Wiping my eyes from the tears I have spilt." Thanks, but We should get going, Tori. I'll drive. No need for you driving while you're sore" All she could do was nod. We headed out to the car, got settled in, and drove off.  Five minutes into the car ride, Tori turned to me with a worried expression. " Look, Cat. I'm sorry if what I said back there upset you. I was just saying there was a possibility. There's also a possibility that it's not her."  I grabbed her hand, and squeezed it to reassure my best friend that it was okay. " It's fine, Tori. I honestly didn't think about it until you brought it up. You were only being truthful and realistic with me." She sat there silent. I looked over at her she turned her head to the window. Looking back at the road I was worried that she would think that it's her fault I'm upset. I love Tori. She's a really good friend. Like Mr Giraffe. "You know Tori, I think it's my turn to be truthful and realistic to you." I couldn't see it, but this caused her to turn her head towards me. I can sense the confused look on my friends face. A small chuckle escaped me. " I can tell the way you look at Jade. I'm not dumb, Tori." Another power of talking to your best friend is you can tell when she's blushing. Even without looking at her. So I continued. "You like her Tori. And I have a feeling she likes you as well." I kept looking out at the road. Tori shifted in her seat a few times, but I never felt her glare leave me.  I giggled "close your mouth. You'll end up getting flies!"
"H-h-How do you know she likes me?" I shrugged. "Just a guess. You guys act the same around each other. You both stutter, can't say your words right, stare at each other. It was just a hypothesis. Here we are!" We finally pulled up to the hospital. We parked and got out. When we walked in, we were met by Jade, Andre, and Beck. I'm suddenly a bit relieved. If Kate was in trouble, Robbie would be here, right? I was greeted by a saddening hug from the boys. Jade was the last to hug me. She hugged me tight like it was the end of the world. "What's going on Jade?" I whispered. She grabbed my hand. "Come with me"  She started dragging me out of the lobby and up to a room.  She stopped as we got to the doors. " I can't stand to be in there.. If you need anything, I'll be downstairs helping Tori out. Okay, Kitty Cat?".  I nodded and stepped into the room. It was cold, and eerie. Next to the bed were a bunch of "Get well soon cards" and some knick knacks. Something Kate would love. The bed was occupied, but it was hard to see who it was in the bed. I sat down in the chair next to their bed. Im so curious. I want to find out who this person is. I take my phone, and turn on the flashlight. My eyes widen with fear and they were threatening to spill tears again.

"Kate?..."
