Chapter 2x1 - Already?!

(Warning: A bit of blood)
Zane shouted as he rushed the clone with a thrusting strike. The clone countered by parrying, leaving him wide open. Zane took this chance and quickly used the handle of the katana to thump the opponent on the face. He fell to the ground with his sword out of hand and Zane swiftly reacted and followed up with a risen slash, gashing downwards. The clone with no emotions in his eyes rapidly put his mind to protect his vital organs. He crossed his arms resulting in the slash to cut halfway through the clone's forearm. A minor grunt was heard from the clone. Zane with excitement and accomplishment in his eyes shouted as he proceeded to cut deeper into the wound. In no time blood splattered everywhere, covering them both in a red thick liquid. Zane opened his eyes with nausea as they uncontrollably flew across the garden. He shook his head only to see two halves of the clones' arms on the ground. Blood rushed out of the body parts. He stood still with widened and frightened eyes as a vision appeared in his soul. A faint vision showed his mother laying on the ground with her life stolen. A thin voice could be heard
"You can do this. You always do"
A thick tear streamed down his cheeks. He shook his head and wiped the tear. Back to reality, the clone lied on the ground unable to stand up. Zane looked up in the air with a big smile on his face and took off his cloak. Hugging it tight, he put it back on and shoved his foot onto the clone's chest holding it down and crushing the vitals. He followed up by sideways slashing towards the neck of the clone. Like butter, the sword cut the head clean. In a moment the clone vanished and white dust came out. Coughing, Zane ran towards Gen with achievement in his eyes.

"Already given up?" Gen scoffed as he saw Zane pant towards him.
"I won!" Zane shouted as he glanced upon Gen with a grin and giggling loudly. Gen's eyes widened as he spits out his tea. He stood up and walked towards the door, unable to accept the truth. He looked everywhere only to find nothing. Sweat dripped down Gen's forehead.
"You're the first," Gen said peacefully. Zane tilted his head in question. Gen answered 
"You are the first one of my apprentices to beat my clone in only two days." Zane's eyes lightened up and pumped his fist in the air saying
"That's amazing!"  Gen sighed and told Zane with a proud voice for the first time
"You have nothing else to learn from me. You are ready to become a monster hunter" Zane's eyes were filled with happiness and sorrow at the same time. Snot dripping out of his nose Zane rushed to Gen in attempt to hug him. Gen quickly whipped out a vase that he hugged.
Struggling to speak Zane said
"T-Thank you-" Zane was interrupted as Gen stood up casually. Gen closed his eyes and held up two fingers beside his other fist. Humming chantings, a light appeared underneath Zane, blinding him. He trembled in fear and in no time the boy fell onto the floor as it all turned black.
"Eleven and ready to be a monster hunter..." Gen whispered shaking his head.

"He's awake, Hayami!" A boy almost as big as Zane shouted. A girl stepped in the room looking at Zane as his eyes twitched. He gently lifted his eyelids in queasiness. He quickly realized what had happened and sat up on the couch. His eyes travelled throughout the room in confusion. As he saw the boy and the woman he quickly backed off a little. Zane asked as his legs began to shake
"Where am I?" The anonymous boy crosses his arms and answers annoyed
"You tell us, we found you outside on our doorsteps sleeping." Zane quickly thought back at what he last remembered.
"Gen... Gen used some kind of spell on me that made me sleep" Zane said to himself. Both of them looked confused at Zane. Hayami said with a soothing voice
"Sorry about him... I'm Hayami and this is Kayn" pointing at the other kid.
Zane's worry faded away as he knew these were not of any harm. With a big smile, Zane reached for Kayn's hand to shake. Kayn stared at his hand and sighed as he shook his hand blushing. Zane giggled and shook Hayami's hand.
After a moment of silence, Zane asked Hayami
"Are you his mom?"
Hayami burst out in laughter as Kayn blushed and shouted
"She's the same age as me!" crossing his arms
Zane scratched his head nervously. Asking yet another question Zane said
"What are you guys doing here?" Kayn refused to answer the question but Hayami chuckled.
"I own this restaurant, I let him live here temporarily." Zane's eyes widened as he was about to ask a question. Disrupted as his stomach growled loudly. Blushing once again he scratched his head. Zane began to think about his mother's food leaving a tear flowing down his eyes.
"What's wrong?" Kayn asked confused.
"Nothing," Zane said wiping his tear. 

"Would you boys like to eat something?" Hayami giggled. Kayn annoyed nodded. Zane shouted
"Yes please!" with a huge smile on his face.
"At least someone is mature" Hayami giggled once again. Kayn's cheeks turned red as he crossed his arms and groaned.
Zane and Kayn sat down patiently waiting for Hayami to cook food for them. After a long silence, Zane took action and began a conversation. 
"So... how old are you?" Kayn groaned as he answered
"eleven" Zane's eyes quickly lit up in happiness. With a big smile, Zane said
"I'm also eleven!" Kayn looked confused at Zane.
"You're smaller than me though," he said. Zane looked at Kayn with a mad face
"You are not that much taller!" Zane shouted. After yet another moment of silence, Zane asked
"What are you going to do next?" Kayn took a stare into Zane's eyes and for the first time he was determined when he answered
"I'm gonna become a Monster Hunter and hunt those bastards down!"
As Kayn just heard what he just said he quickly shut down embarrassed. Zane answered
"Really!? I'm also going to be a Monster Hunter!" 
Zane saw as Kayn had a faint smile on his face and giggled resulting in Kayn blushing.
"Here's your food!" Hayami said happily handing them two cups of white soup and some bread. Zane bowed and thanked Hayami only to finish the plate in seconds.
