Scorpius walked back to his house alone. He didn't expect his father to be home which made him feel a little relived. He made sure his father's car wasn't parked in the driveway before entering the house. He flopped on the couch and fell asleep almost instantly. He woke up to find that hear his father in the kitchen. Scorpius stood up and walked tiredly into the kitchen.
"Hello Scorpius, how was school." Draco said, not looking up from the pot he was currently stirring.
Scorpius thought of what to say for a moment. "It was alright." He settled with.
"Really?" Draco said, an intrigued look on his face as he nodded slowly. "Isn't that interesting, I was told that you weren't even at school."
Scorpius' eyes went wide. "I-I err." Scorpius fumbled. "Sorry dad."
"It's alright Scorpius. I'm surprised you haven't done that earlier. I used to all the time."
"Really?"
"Yes Scorpius. Now can you set the table? Dinner is nearly ready, tell me about your adventure then."
Scorpius nodded quickly, setting the table and sitting down. Draco soon finished cooking and bought the food over to the table. Once they were both sitting down and had had a little food Draco began to talk.
"So, what did you do?" He asked.
"Albus took me on a date!" Scorpius grinned. "Well I sorta ran off after seeing Albus and Polly fighting. Albus followed and told me that I needed a break and asked me out there!"
Draco chuckled at his son's excitement. "Where did he take you?"
"A café and we went back to the park."
"Did you have fun?"
"Yeah."
Draco stood up. "I have some work to finish."
Scorpius nodded, sitting alone to finish his food. He had a reasonably peaceful night. Waking up the next morning, eager to get to school so he could see Albus again. He left early and made his way to school and saw Albus sitting under a tree. Albus spotted him and waved. Scorpius waved back, rushing over.
"What's up with you, Scorpius?" Albus asked, noticing Scorpius' excitement. "What's got you so excited?"
Scorpius shrugged. "I don't know." He said sitting down next to Albus. "I was just excited to see you?"
Albus smiled, leaning his head on Scorpius' shoulder. "That's nice of you."
"Yeah." Scorpius sighed. "You know people are staring at us."
"Let them." Albus shrugged. "I had to tell my parents anyway. So may as well let the school know too."
Scorpius looked down at Albus. "You told your parents?"
"Well, they asked where I was yesterday, and I just decided to tell them. Get this, they didn't even comment on it! They don't even care! Here I was thinking that I would either be drowning in hate or drowning in love and appreciation. But noOOo, they didn't even say a word!"
"I can tell your upset."
"Very."
"So..."
"So..." Albus echoed Scorpius.
"Do we just say we're dating if anyone asks us?"
"Sure, I don't see why not." Albus shrugged, holding Scorpius' hand as he stood up. "If you're ok with it."
"I'm fine." Scorpius smiled looking down at their joined hands, watching people stare at them as they walked past.
The two decided to push the limits and hold hands when they got up to walk to their lockers. The stares they got made Scorpius laugh for some reason. They passed Polly who smiled at Scorpius. He grinned back, making Polly's friends stare at Polly. The rest of the day was alright, no one talked to them and Scorpius didn't mine. He enjoyed being able to be close to Albus and not be worried about someone seeing.
Friday afternoon came around quickly. Scorpius was extremely happy, and he couldn't pinpoint why. He met Albus at school and they went on a short walk before stopping at a park.
"We seem to like going to parks." Scorpius commented as they sat on a bench.
"It's nice." Albus nodded, before his phone started buzzing.
"who's calling?"
"My dad." Albus groaned, standing up. "I'll be back, sorry."
Scorpius nodded. He watched Albus. Whatever his dad was saying, made Albus angry. He took the phone away from his ear and looked as if he was ready to throw it at a tree. He stormed back over before slouching back next to Scorpius, burring his head into Scorpius' shoulder.
"What did he say?" Scorpius asked.
"He asked where I was! I told him before I left for school this morning!" Albus groaned, his voice muffled by Scorpius' arm.
"Well you're here and you're going to stay here."
"Oh, I'm not leaving."
"Good."
"Yeah, good." Albus nodded then yawned. "Can I crash at your place tonight?" He asked.
"Sure, that would be nice." Scorpius nodded.
The two got up and walked back to Scorpius' house. Scorpius tried to find Albus' hand but Albus had shoved them in his pockets, he stared at the ground. It made Scorpius annoyed, but he understood that Albus was also incredibly mad. Scorpius sighed and continued walking. He looked over at Albus and stared at him for a while before Albus noticed, staring back at Scorpius. They hadn't realised that they had stopped walking to stare at each other. Scorpius opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Albus smirked. Scorpius blushed a little, not being able to take his eyes away from Albus.
"Something wrong, Malfoy?" Albus joked.
"You sound a lot like your dad, Potter." Scorpius replied.
"No, my dad sounds a bit like this," Albus paused. "Malfoy." He spat in a mocking tone.
"And then my dad would say," Scorpius tried to stop himself from laughing. "Pottah!" Scorpius said flicking an invisible ponytail.
Albus started laughing. Scorpius loved Albus' laugh. He didn't know what to describe it as, how to describe it. So instead he laughed with Albus. They raced each other back to Scorpius' house before crashing on Scorpius' bed laughing. Albus stopped, out of breath, lying next to Scorpius who was also out of breath.
"Hey Scorpius. Guess what." Albus said after a while of silence.
"What?"
"It's the weekend."
"Yeah it is."
"And there's one week before the school holidays. Do you know what that means?"
"Yes Albus."
"No more school!"
Scorpius laughed a little, rolling onto his side so he could look at Albus.
"I love you."
"I love you too Scorpius." Albus said rolling over to face Scorpius.
They connected in a brief kiss before hearing a knock on the door followed by Draco's voice.
"Scorpius! Albus' father is here!"
"You have to be kidding me." Albus muttered.
