Albus wasn't at school on Monday. Normally, Scorpius would call or text, to make sure Albus was ok. He was too nervous to today. He didn't want to be messaging Albus' father by accident. Scorpius made his way to the local library after school. It was a quiet trip, despite the dozens of people milling outside the library, the library itself being nearly entirely empty. Scorpius looked around at the few table and seats. He spotted a group of people from his year at school sitting around a table, some kept glancing back at Scorpius before going back to whisper something to the group.
Scorpius let out a sigh and continued to look around, he saw Rose, Albus' cousin sitting with Albus' sister Lily. They too had also spotted him, but instead of trying to be discreet, they were just staring at him. Scorpius went down an isle of books, to hide from the small groups. He leaned against the shelf and sighed again. A tap on his shoulder startled him, making him jump back and drop his sketch book. The book fell open onto a half finished drawing of Albus, Scorpius quickly picked it up. He hadn't even looked up to see who had tapped his shoulder.
Half of him hoped it would be Albus, but instead he was face to face with Rose.
"Oh! Hello, Rose!" Scorpius squeaked.
"Albus told me to tell you that he is sorry he couldn't come to school today. He told me to give you this." Rose said plainly, holding out a small envelope.
Scorpius took the envelope and thanked Rose, or tried to at least seeing as she had already walked off. Things had become incredibly awkward between the two after Scorpius had a 'crush' on her, much to Albus' dislike. Rose on the other hand had always hated Scorpius. She never said why. For years, (five to be exact!) he tried to get her attention, eventually giving up. He remembered the day he told Albus that he didn't like Rose anymore. Albus' eyes had lit up and he was smiling, despite the fact that Scorpius seemed a little sad. Though Albus had eventually noticed and went to comfort his friend.
Scorpius went to a small corner of the library and sat down against the wall, sitting between two shelves. He could tell it was written by Albus, as Scorpius' name was written on the front in Albus' handwriting. He opened the envelope carefully, pulling out the small piece of paper.
The letter read;
To Scorpius,
I'm super sorry I wasn't at school today. I got sick.
But don't worry, I think I'm getting better! I'm just stuck in bed, still without my phone.
(Please don't tell me you tried messaging me again.)
Scorpius laughed softly.
Anyway, I don't think I will come to school tomorrow.
Depends on how I feel in the morning.
I have something to give you, I will get someone to give it to you tomorrow!
I think you will love it!
Miss you!
Love from
Albus
Scorpius smiled, slipping the letter back into the envelope and took out a piece of paper and a pencil, writing a reply to Albus. The reply was short and simple.
Dear Albus,
I miss you too!
I hope you feel better and I am very excited to see what you will give to me!
I love you very much.
Love from
Scorpius
He folded the paper up and wrote, 'For Albus' On the front. He got up and went to find Rose or Lily again. They were still sitting at the same table, next to each other and, again, stared at Scorpius as they saw him approaching them.
Scorpius smiled shyly when he came to a stop in front of them. "Can one of you give this to Albus?" He asked holding out the small folded paper.
Lily snatched the paper out of Scorpius' hand, she went to open it, Rose taking it off her and hitting her arm. "Don't read it!" Rose hissed.
Rose looked back at Scorpius. "I will give it to him." She said, giving a small nod.
Scorpius nodded "Thanks." He said, awkwardly. "err, bye!" Scorpius rushed away and decided to leave the library.
Scorpius rushed out of the library and stopped out the front, not sure what he was going to do now. He looked around and saw some people from school staring at him. It made Scorpius wonder why there were so many people out. It was only a Monday night. He shrugged it off and went to get something to drink before making his way home.
The café was full, so Scorpius went to a supermarket and got a bottle of iced coffee. He then went on his way home.
The next day at school, Rose came up to him and handed a small box to him. He was about to say thank you, but she was already making her way to class. Scorpius went over to a bench and sat down, opening the small box. Inside was another bracelet, it was the same colours as the one Scorpius was currently wearing. Scorpius smiled, almost immediately putting the bracelet on. He noticed a small note in the box and took it out.
To Scorpius,
I noticed you still wear the one I made you all those years ago and thought, since I have barely anything to do while sitting here sick in bed, that I may as well make you a new one!
I still miss you!
Also, I got your note just in case you were wondering.
Lots and lots of love from
Albus
Scorpius' smile grew wider and he hadn't noticed that the bell had rung a few minutes ago. He quickly packed the box away and rushed to class before he was late.
NOTE-
Only one more chapter to go!
I don't know if I will post it later today or tomorrow!
I'm super excited!
Thanks!
