Chapter : 30

Rishav's POV

Ananya is damn difficult to understand. She's like the little rubik's cube I have lying on my table which is always scrambled up because I haven't been able to solve it.

The way she chatted all rude over the phone and the way she cutely countered me were so contrasting that it has left me confused. Was it really her talking to me over the phone? I need to know.

I looked to my left, at her face. Her head was tilted down as she was fiercely jotting down points she thought were important while the speaker went on explaining various concepts and ideas related to designing. She was just so serious about this.

"Seriously?" I asked, amusement dripping off my voice.

She looked up at me and then pouted. I couldn't help but turn my gaze to her pink lips. She immediately lost the pout, her face turning a shade of pink in the dark auditorium. I brought my eyes back to hers.

"Seriously what?" she asked, her face flustered.

"That." I pointed at the notepad.

She glanced down and just shrugged, returning her attention to the speaker. Mr.A.G Rao was speaking about 'Designers Ways Of Learning' and it had been quite a slow session. I guess I found it a bit boring, so I plucked in my earphones. I do hate them but they are a life saver in situations like these.

A while into Ed Sheeran's South Of The Border, I squinted my eyes open to find Ananya glaring at me like she wanted to strangle me.

"You know, that the jinx hasn't worked much. Try staring with more intensity the next time," I said with sarcasm as I pulled off  the earphones.

She smiled approvingly as I got rid of the music. I don't know why but her smile felt like worth it.

"He's a respected personality in the world of designing, Rishav," she said.

"So?" I asked, not being able to connect the reason why I shouldn't be bored on a lecture about The Golden Spiral.

"What I mean is..." She stopped short as her eyes met mine. She read my expression.

"Okay, let's get out of here." Ananya threw her hands up in the air.

Her words surprised me. I raised my eyebrows. "What about the session? You really like this subject," I asked.

"I do, but I just feel like having a walk around..." She made up an answer.

"Says the girl who has spent hours over the lawn today," I said and smirked.

"What? Can't I feel like walking around a bit?" she asked defensively.

"Just tell me you wanna go and grab a bite at the canteen," I muttered as I put my stuff into the backpack.

She just glared at me as if to silently tell me I was wrong. "I'm not hungry," she stated stubbornly.

I couldn't help but shake with a laugh as her stomach made a loud grumble in the silent auditorium. A lot of heads turned here and there to find the source of the sound while Ananya hung her head so low that her hair covered her face. I knew she was embarrassed.

"Having second thoughts?" I asked as I extended a hand for her to take in a sarcastic tone.

She swatted my hand away with a "Whatever."  and got up and started walking out of the auditorium.

"As you say, Hungry Queen." I said and I followed her out.

Ananya's POV

Damn my greedy tummy. Why can't it shut up and wait for food to be supplied and not whine for something to be shoved down to it?

I and Rishav walked into the canteen but to my great sadness, the entire canteen was an empty soul. There was no one in here. My stomach literally committed a suicide at the sight.

"I guess they are pretty strict with the canteen hours in here," Rishav said from behind me.

I thought he had said it to mock me but his eyes had concern which was pretty new and unusual for me. "Let's just go back..." I said and turned to leave when Rishav held my arm to stop me.

I did halt on my track and looked down at our hands. He quickly let go.

"Come," he said and walked ahead while I kept looking at his tall and lean figure sprinting away.

"But the auditorium is in the opposite way," I said, confused.

"Who said I was returning to that boredom-land? Just come with me," Rishav said as he kept walking.

Sighing, I started following him and realized soon enough that we were heading towards the hostel. I frowned. What food will we get there? Ughh... I hate the suspense.
