Ted stayed standing on the bus much to Eve's dismay since all the seats were taken. He held onto the pole above to keep from falling while Eve sent a text to someone, most likely her parents, saying that they were heading to her place. Ted happened to look over and spotted a trio of boys eyeing her with disgusting grins. He simply, smoothly, made his way to block their view. He shot them a look that caused them to look away.
"It's the next stop." Eve simply said not looking up. Ted looked up and noticed all the nice housing and markets. It was a total far cry from the middle class neighborhood he lived in. He had to remind himself that Eve's dad was the mayor of Praise. He began to absentmindedly mess with his bandages that were hanging loosely on his hand after the fight. He recalled a conversation he had with his brother earlier that day about getting his ears pierced. He didn't like the idea.
"Here."
Ted followed the red haired girl off the bus and walked alongside her. "I told Charles not to pick me up today because the cafe. I guess I could've called him but it's been a while since I've taken the bus." Eve explained.
'Who the hell is Charles?' Ted thought to himself. She lived in a gated community, goes figures, and so they had to check in with security to get pass the gate. The guards gave him a weird look but let them pass regardless. Couldn't say no to Eve. The two of them walked up the street before stopping in front of a rather large house. It was a white house with red trimmings and, you know what? It was a mansion. Just a mini mansion.
"Who all lives here?" Ted asked out of curiosity. Eve shrugged as she walked towards the gate. "Just me and my parents." Ted's jaw dropped. His house barely held him and his family. Hell, Oscar lived in the basement just so they had enough room. He followed Eve into the house and looked in awe at the huge room he was standing in. Did he take off his shoes? Was it rude not to? He looked to Eve to ask but stopped when he saw the tears forming in her eyes. She was, sad? Worried? Was that why she was so silent this entire time.
"What's wrong?" He asked. She walked towards him and embraced him in a hug. Ted held back his need to make a sound when her arms squeezed against his newly formed bruises. He looked down at her and tried to figure out what to do. "Please stop." Ted looked at her confused. "Stop what?"
She lifted her head to look at him. And he felt immediately guilty for something he didn't even know he did. "Stop fighting. Stop letting yourself get hurt so much." She begged. Ted looked away. He really did feel bad.
"This wasn't about the Demons." He confessed. Eve looked surprised. True, the Rowdy Brothers were with the Demons but they didn't attack on Drake's orders. They attacked him because of, Eve and Olivia. They warned him to stay away but of course he didn't listen. He wasn't about to listen to some punks telling him who he could and couldn't be with. "Then why?" Eve asked.
"They told me to stay away from you and Olivia. No idea why. Jim and Pip helped me out...."
"Jim and Pip were involved to?!" Eve questioned. Ted felt a stray sweat drop roll down his forehead. "Y-yeah. Ned to. They backed me up." Eve slapped his arm which caused him to hiss in pain. She immediately began to apologize but Ted brushed it off. Eve stayed silent for a moment and Ted watched as she played with her hair. Her green eyes shined from the tears. She was still wearing her school uniform and her makeup was still done up. She looked oddly beautiful save for the fact that she was crying because he is a total idiot.
"Don't fight for me." Ted narrowed his eyes at the girl who was now staring at him. He crossed his arms. "I won't stop." Eve now glared at him. "I never asked you to. Now you're hurt and the others got dragged into it." Ted felt his eye twitch. "They didn't get dragged into anything. They chose to fight just like I did. I'm not backing down especially if it's for my friends. I know you never asked me to fight for you or Olivia but I will." He said determined.
Eve's face soften a bit before she began to pout. "At least try not to get so banged up." She finally gave. Ted smiled and promised he wouldn't get hurt if he could help it. She offered him tea and he gladly accepted.
---------
"So you fell down the stairs?""Yep."
"This isn't from another fight?"
"Nope."
"Do you love me?"
"Yep."
"Are you going to stop smoking?"
"Nope."
"Are you lying about falling from the stairs?"
"Ye-uh nope!"
"I KNEW IT!"
"Damnit."
"James Griffin Carim!"
-------
"A brawl?""Indeed!"
"You. The nicest guy around? You got in a fight?"
"Indeed! It was a draw but a noble one regardless!"
"I don't buy it."
"Very well!"
"Peterson Quinn Romero?"
"Present for the testing!"
"You are, enthusiastic for a physical."
"INDEED!"
---------Ted sat on the couch while Eve poured the tea into a spare cup she had. His mind was still mauling over the fight. The last time he felt that defeated was when Liam ambushed him on the roof. True he technically didn't lose but he didn't win either. True he was in physical pain but his pride was more bruised than his ribs. "Can't believe I got my ass kicked by some dorky brothers." He groaned.
Eve simply sighed and set down the kettle before taking a seat next to the defeated boy. Ted took a sip of the drink only for his eyes to grow wide in surprise. "That's pretty good." He confessed. He took another sip and sat back against the leather couch to relax a bit. He let out a groan at the stretching of his side. His hair was still a mess but his bandages were still wrapped nicely save for the one on his hand but it was because he continued to mess with it. He made a note to ask Ned where he learned to wrap like that. That and where he learned to fight. 'Western Boxing.' He recalled. Ned was a mystery in general. The guy came out from nowhere, wore a necklace of some kind, knows western boxing, and even patched them up with little effort. He didn't know them all that well yet he jumped right in to help them. Maybe he isn't such a bad guy to hang around with.
"So, how are classes working out?" Eve asked. Ted smiled smugly as he crossed his arms. "Straight A's. Just like always." He gloated. Eve almost spit her tea out at the revelation. "Are you for real?!" She asked. "I didn't know you were such a genius!" Ted dropped his head. "I can be smart even though I can still fight!"
---------
"Jim."
"No."
"Jim."
"No."
"James."
"No."
"My knight in rusty armor?"
"No."
"Bear?"
"Hm."
"Oh? Did I finally get it?"
"Hm."
"My Cuddle Bear?"
"HMMMMMMMMMMMMM!"
---------
Ted had finally made it home and decided he was going to sleep in all day the next day. That was until he got a text from Olivia saying she was excited for the trip to Fantasy Land tomorrow.
"Yeah, God hates me. Can't even rest for a day can I?"
Ted found himself falling face first onto his couch and let sleep take a hold of his mind.
