Present Time

Your POV

I gasped as I awoke from my dream, which seemed to have lasted for aeons.

"Woah, woah. Just breath." I looked to my bedside, only to see the same blonde boy that was in my dream. But, he was older. He held my hand in an attempt to quell me.

I surveyed my surroundings, realizing that this was not a familiar place. It was a big tent, containing at least 20 cots. The cots were occupied by what seemed to be wounded soldiers.

"Where am I...?" The tone in my voice was bewildered and anxious. The blonde boy looked up at me with a soft smile, but I couldn't tell if it was genuine.

"You're in the medical tent. You were wounded in action. Do you remember anything?" He kept his smile, but you could see the hint of worry in his blue eyes.

Suddenly it all came back to me. Flashbacks of the monstrous Titans, of seeing my friends become injured, of seeing...the death of my fellow soldiers...and those last moments before I fell of my horse.

I remember.

I remember now.

The flashing memories of his hand reaching for mine. His long hair flying in the wind, covering his eyes. His mellow expression as his overwrought voice called out my name. The downright pain in his face.

I thought I was going to die.

I thought I was going to lose him.

"A-Armin!" I threw myself upon him, weeping and holding him with all my strength.

"(Y-Y/N), you're squishing me!" That only made you hug him tighter.

"I was scared! I was so scared! Don't ever leave my side again, promise! I can't ever lose you, please don't leave me, promise..." You gripped his clothes and rested your chin on his shoulder as you continued to wet his shirt with your tears.

"(Y/N)...I promise.", he said, in such a soothing voice, you could feel the world around you slowly break away. He gently wrapped his arms around you.

Then...

He kissed you.

You felt his velvety lips mark your cheek, and the lingering feeling of their satisfying touch as he pulled his face away. Your shock was so intense, you couldn't even move. Your only response was your quiet breath. Seconds passed before either of you spoke a word.

"I-I'm sorry! Was that too much? I promise I'll never-"

"No, it's...fine." You saw the relief in his face as he let out a deep breath.

"Thank you." You rested on his shoulders again, locking arms. Your crimson face matched his, as you both sat silently, appreciating each others' company.
