Armin's POV

"Hey guys-" I stopped in my tracks as I saw Eren on top of (Y/N). I could hear him whispering something like "He's coming!"

"Um..."

"It's not what it looks like!" Eren jumped off and
(Y/N) stood up.

"I can come back another time-"

"No! No, it's fine!" (Y/N) tugged on my sleeve.

"Right...Captain Levi wants everybody to come back. We're going to spend the last night here and then leave in the morning." I gently removed (Y/N)'s hand and left, my face hot with anger.

What were they doing? More importantly, what was Eren doing? He knew that I liked her. How could he?! I never should've told him.

————Flashback————

"What's up Armin? You seem down." Eren sat down next to me. I could feel the warmth of the campfire as I was sitting there, eyes fixated on the night sky once more. I didn't answer him.

"Do you wanna talk about it...?" He moved slightly closer to me.

"I guess."

"I'm all ears." Though I wasn't looking at him, I could tell that he was smiling.

"Well, there's this person. I think that I'm in love with them. I've liked them for forever, but I never realized that I loved them until now..." I frowned.

"Oh. Do we know them?"

"Yeah...it's (Y/N)." I covered my face in embarrassment.

"Really? How long have you liked her?" Eren's eyes were wide with shock.

"Since we lived in Shiganshina."

"Woah, I could never tell. But, why does it make you so upset?"

"Because, I don't know if she'd love me back. I can't tell her. She'd probably hate me."

"Why would she hate you? You're awesome Armin."

"I don't know... I'm just scared of rejection."

"I honestly think she likes you."

I faced Eren.

"You do? Why do you think that?" I felt a little bit of hope.

"Because! You guys are always staring at each other, or blushing, and you guys are super close friends! Plus, don't think I don't remember that day you held her hand."

I gasped. I forgot about that.

"You really think she likes me?" I began to smile.

"Yeah, of course. Just ask her!" He looked happy for me.

"I'll try."

————Present Time————

My thoughts were interrupted when (Y/N) ran up to me.

"Armin, I just wanted to say-" She stopped and looked at my face.

"Hey, why are you so angry?" Her expression was worried. She faced me and put both of her hands on my arms.

"I'm not angry. What did you want to tell me?" I dismissed my feelings.

"Oh, I just wanted to say that Eren had just fallen on me when you walked over to us. I swear we weren't doing anything."

"Okay, but why did he say 'He's coming'?"

"What? He didn't say anything like that." She seemed sincere.

"It's okay. I must've misheard. I'm sorry." I rested my hand on her shoulder. Her face turned bright red.

"I-it's okay." She smiled at me, and touched my hand in reassurance, causing me to also turn red.

We walked back together, as Eren ended up walking back with Mikasa. When we got to the base, I apologized to him, and he kindly accepted my apology. As night fell, everybody went to sleep.

But I went to find (Y/N).
