Remedial goodness class was Holly's least favorite class, for several reasons, most notably being the fact that it seemed Fairy Godmother thought they were stupid and needed to be taught these things. Of course, they knew what was right, how else would they know how to be cruel. the only good thing about this class was that fairy godmother was very accommodating and allowed her and Hadie to bring Cerberus to class so long as he wasn't disruptive or distracting. She ran her hand across Cerberus' fur as she pulled out her notebooks. As she sat down next to her little brother Fairy Godmother called their attention, "Children, excuse me. Um, as you know, uh, this Sunday is family day here at Auradon Prep. And because your parents can't be here due to, uh, distance, we've arranged for a special treat." Holly paled she, Hadie and Hades got along well, he loved them a lot and even Mal though she absolutely refused to acknowledge it. The others weren't so lucky. Ben had explained a what a video chat was and that was the only things she could constitute as talking to the parents for family day besides a phone call or a letter. Part of her was hoping it was a letter so none of the others had to see their parents.
She knew her hope was in vain when Fairy Godmother had a large television wheeled into the room. As soon as the screen was turned on, they saw the enlarged faces of Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Evil Queen, Maleficent and Hades. Despite how on edge the others were, seeing Hades again calmed Hadie and Holly. They had been so on edge lately and their father and his lack of expectations was like a breath of fresh air. "I don't see anything, nor do I hear," Maleficent complained. Hades looked annoyed at the fey.
"Kids, Kids, Kids." Fairy Godmother coxed with forward.
Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos slowly moved forward; Carlos shielded most of his body behind Holly. He looked up at her with wide terrified eyes. She reached her hand behind her taking the back of his head in her hand, from anyone else it would have terrified him but from Holly was a sense of comfort. She looked back and mouthed, 'it'll be okay,' this interaction was not lost on Fairy godmother who looked at them oddly.
"Use the remote!" Hades shouted at Maleficent clearly, she and he had gotten into another argument prior to the call.
She grabbed it from him with a glare, "Is this thing on? Ugh, it's broken. Ugh! I hate electronic equipment-" Hades snatched it back and hit one button turning the monitor on.
"Evie! It's mommy. Oh! Look how beautiful," Evie waved back nervously. "Oh, you know what they say, the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Hades waved at his children with a smile, Mal figured he was only there for Holly and Hadie and thus didn't wave back.
Maleficent Scoffed, "Don't you mean the weeds?" Evie pouted shrinking back at the comment running a self-conscious hand though her hair, Jay placed a hand on her back.
Cruella stuck her head in frame, making Carlos wince "Ooh! Who's the old bat?"
Holly answered her so Carlos didn't have to, "This is fairy godmother."
"Still doing tricks with eggplants?" Maleficent laughed.
She was clearly offended, "I turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage," she said indignantly.
"You really couldn't give Cinderella till one A.M.? I mean, really. What, the hamsters had to be back on their little wheels?" Maleficent was showing that even with her powers snuffed she could still be vexing, she could still get under your skin, she could still torment you.
"They were mice! They were not... " She turned back to them as if trying to convince them and that the fact that they were mice was very important to the story. "They were mice. They were not... "
Mal grabbed her hand, "Thank you so much." She did her best to calm fairy godmother down.
"They were mice," Fairy Godmother whispered to get the last word then walked away.
