Leo's P.O.V.
"Welcome to your new home, Mrs. Davenport," Donald said as he carried mom into our new house.
"Why thank you Mr. Davenport," Mom said with a big smile.
"Absolutely Mrs. Davenport."
Juliana and I came in with Mom's bags, Juliana fake gagging as she watched the two adults. I sneered with disgust.
"We get it, you're married!" I exclaimed.
"It's getting old," Juliana finished for me.
I nodded in agreement and we fist bumped before dropping our bags and looking around.
"Wow," Juliana breathed out.
"You got this big house just from inventing things?" I asked.
"Yep," Donald said with a smile.
"Way to go, Mom, that's a husband."
Mom rolled her eyes, and I looked over to see something that looked like a pole with fancy designs. It looked so plain and boring.
"What the heck is that?" I asked as I walked over to it, and Juliana followed me.
"Uh, that, is my latest creation," Donald explained. "Davenport Industries first completely interactive 3-D TV."
He activated it and up popped a baseball game. The crowd cheered, and a baseball came flying toward me and Juliana. I backed up, trying to catch it, but I hit the wall before I could. I had a feeling this thing would be more fun if used outside.
"Watch the face termites," said a voice, and Juliana clung my arm in fear.
"Mom," I said. "I think the little voice inside my head is back."
I looked at my mom to see her rolling her eyes. I looked at Juliana to find her glaring at the wall behind me, but she turned to meet my eyes and her expression softened. She was odd like this sometimes, but apparently, she had a rough past. She wasn't my biological sister, Mom had adopted her a few months before marrying Donald. We got along really well, but sometimes I'd notice how she was very paranoid.
"No, this is Eddy," Donald explained and I turned to look at the wall, where there was a screen. "My smart home system. Eddy, this is my new stepson and daughter, Leo and Juliana. Remember I told you that Leo, Juliana, and Tasha are moving in today."
"Hey, welcome!" Eddy exclaimed. "Everything is mine."
Both Juliana and I raised our brows in slight confusion. What a rude, sad little A.I. system. Donald paused before turning to us.
"Uh... Leo, Juliana, why don't you go check out your new rooms?" He suggested. "Just go straight down that hall, and when you see the room with the video games, and action figures, and 50ft screen TV... keep going that's mine."
Juliana rolled her eyes, and we walked into a hall. It was a wonder we didn't get lost as we looked around, this place was practically a maze. This isn't exactly what I had been expecting when Mom said she was marrying a rich guy, but hey, this works.
"This place is huge..." Juliana said as we walked around, and I nodded in agreement.
"We're going to need a G.P.S. to find the restroom," I said.
I leaned against the wall and suddenly two large elevator doors appeared on the opposite wall. Juliana, again, squeezed my arm out of fear. She gets scared easily sometimes, and I'm not sure why. I think it was the paranoia, and when I looked at her I saw gears turning in her head. She looked down at me and we both nodded before the two of us walked in.
