The mornings were never good.
"Get the hell up!" The door was pounded on and Hyojong shot out of bed. He changed quietly and headed out of his room. As he passed the kitchen to the door his mother spoke.
"Ungrateful bastard doesn't even eat the food I make."
"He doesn't deserve it anyway." Woojin mumbled and looked at Hyojong with a scowl.
"Fucking gay bitch." He rolled his eyes and ate his breakfast.
Hyojong's blank stare remained. The only weapon he had. It drove everyone of them crazy when he'd do it.
Did they honestly still expect him to whimper and cry over their insults? He knew he was shitty and worthless. He knew he was a scrawny f***ot. It didn't hurt anymore. He turned and walked outside. He didn't have a backpack or any school supplies. He simply carried Paper Towns in his hand.

Everyone stared when he walked in the classroom. Girls whispered about how handsome he was and squealed. Was this a sick way of making fun of him? He was wearing worn jeans and an extremely old Champion hoodie. He'd practically combed his hair with his fingers before he'd arrived. And it wasn't like that was very nice. He cut it himself with his fathers cutters. He used to watch those videos with an old friend back in middle school. Yes, the one who gave him the beanie. God, why was he remember-
"Kim Hyojong please take the empty seat." He complied quickly while all eyes were on him. He sat down next to a mean looking boy. The boy barely blinked as he sat down. But thankfully, everyone turned away from him.
"Need a pencil?" He looked to his right. An attractive boy held out a yellow mechanical. He nodded and thanked him quietly.
"Paper too?" He asked again and Hyojong nodded. He handed him a notebook.
"It was extra, I didn't count P.E." He said laughing. Hyojong thanked him again and faced the front of the room.
He was extremely embarrassed. Usually in his middle school, everyone would bring in a few of each thing and the teacher would hand them out. And obviously had absolutely nothing and no way of buying anything. It never really bothered him until he went to school. Couldn't his parents be decent enough to buy him books?

The boy from earlier called Hyojong to his lunch table. He was grateful, otherwise he would have to eat in the bathrooms like he'd done last year.
He sat beside the boy who turned to him.
"Guys this is Hyojong, say hello. I'm Wooseok by the way." The boy added with a soft smile.
"I'm Yuto." Said the scary guy from Hyojong's first period.
"I'm Hongseok, this is YeoOne and this is Yanan." A boy with dark hair pointed to two boys talking quietly among themselves.
"I'm Kino this is Shinwon." Two boys sitting close said. And finally the shorter by Wooseok looked up.
"And this is Jinho~ah." The two smiled at each other while no one else seemed to notice. Hyojong could see something between the two.
"Well that's the whole friend group other than- yo, Hui!" Everyone's heads spun around to meet a boy stopping at tables and carrying on. He walked with grace, his confidence practically seeping off of him. And he smiled as he joked with a few guys, and everyone seemed to watch him move. Like they were holding their breath. He finally came over with his tray and sat beside Hyojong, shocking him.
"This is... Hui" Wooseok murmured and turned back to Jinho. Hui looked Hyojong's face over.
"Do I know you?" He asked and looked at his food as he ate. He forked his food quickly but in a clean manner, like he'd had lessons or something.
"No." Hyojong mumbled quietly. "I just moved here."
"Are you gay?" He asked, looking from his tray with raised brows. Hyojong's face grew hot and he nodded slowly. Hui smiled a smile that made Hyojong want to faint. It was a lazy smile. Like he knew what he was doing.
Hyojong turned to his food, though he could feel the boy's eyes on him for the duration of lunch.
