if i had known chloe and jaden were going to be at the party i never would have gone, i wish ellie was here, i thought to myself as i looked down at the drink in my hand before taking another sip. the bitter taste of vodka distilled with sweet soda warmed my throat and i went into the kitchen to fix myself more. the party was alright until they had shown up. i remember seeing them on the kitchen counter right by the drinks, chloe was sitting on the counter with her arms wrapped around jadens neck. i ignored them and grabbed a bottle of cheap whiskey and went out on the balcony where people were smoking and just talking and sat down on one of the benches, taking big gulps of the whiskey straight from the bottle.
-you found out huh? i heard someone say and turned my head to see elmo sitting beside me, i didn't say anything in return out of confusion and was hoping he'd leave me alone if i ignored him. i mean who could blame you, he continued and nodded towards the now almost half empty bottle in my hand, if i found out my best friend not only got together with my ex the day after we broke up but also went behind my back with her while we were actually together i'd need a drink too.
-what the fuck did you just say? i replied through clenched teeth.
-oh shit, i- was all i heard elmo say before i had stormed inside and was looking for jaden. what happened next is all a big blur, i remember finding and confronting him, slamming him to the floor and anthony and the guys pulling us apart from each other. anthony magically managed to calm me down somehow but then jaden made some snarky comment about ellie as i was walking away and at that point, his ass was done for. i don't remember the rest but i somehow managed to get up to the hotel roof and got some fresh air which sobered me up a bit. i wanted to see ellie so bad but i didn't want to wake her and knew it wouldn't be good if she saw me in the state i was in. i ended up texting her after washing some of the blood off my face in the pool and before i knew it she was up there with me, tracing the sore bruise on my cheek with her soft fingers. i couldn't help but flinch when she did it, even though i craved nothing more in the world than her soothing touch that night. i ended up explaining everything to her, the fight, chloe, jaden, all of it. i noticed she was shivering from the cold and we ended up sharing my oversized hoodie, she crawled up like a warm little ball against my chest, tracing designs and intricate little swirls on my neck and collarbones with her hand. we stayed on the roof for some time after that, looking at the stars, kissing, talking and just feeling each other's presence. it was clear to both of us that night, that everything in the world was right as long as we were together.
