-sorry we didn't have time to get snacks, chase said as we squeezed through the tight isles on the bus, making our way to the back. i didn't know what to reply and just blushed, happy that he was walking behind me unable to see my flaming red cheeks. chase had asked noen and anthony to save us two seats in the back and they lit up at the sight of us.
-finally! the driver was contemplating on leaving you behind, what the hell took so long? noen asked while chase helped me with my bags.
-overslept, he said shortly with his back to us and i didn't even need to see his face to picture the grin on his face as he lied. i sat down in the window seat with chase next to me and he removed the armrest divider between our seats so he could wrap an arm around me as i rested my head against his shoulder. my eyelids flickered as i struggled to keep them open. he got out a pair of headphones and plugged them into the screen on the seat in front of me, handing me one of the earbuds so we could share. i watched the screen as he scrolled past the assortment of action and horror films over to the cartoon section, pressing play on one before taking off his hoodie and giving it to me to use as a pillow.
-goodnight, he said softly and i smiled as he pulled me closer in his warm embrace. my whole body was exhausted even though i woke up just an hour earlier and it didn't take long for me to fall asleep again.
