Always - Sequel to Stay Together For The Kids

Surprises.

I open my mouth to tell him, to tell him exactly how I feel.

"Ashton?"

Wait. That isn't my voice.

Ashton and I both turn our heads at the same time, and very startled, we see Luke standing in my doorway.

"Luke?" Ashton replies, equally surprised.

"Where have you been?" Luke says, his voice sounding borderline hysterical.

"I was with Lily." Ashton frowns at Luke's franticness. "Her mum went into hospital-"

"Your mum?" Luke cuts off Ashton, looking to me now.

I nod. "It's a long story. She'll be ok." I assure him. He looks relieved but still confused. "It's actually my fault he was gone so long." I continue. "I'm sorry."

Luke softens slightly, his manic expression fading. "I'm sorry for being over the top." He apologises.

I giggle slightly. "I'm used to it."

Luke smiles apologetically.

"You're appearance is actually really great timing." I tell him.

Luke looks confused again now.

"Ashton and I have decided that Ashton's going to move in here." I tell him confidently, a smile on my lips.

Ashton looks down at me in surprise. "We have?" He says quietly.

I nod back up to him, and I watch the grin spread over his face. "Thank you." He mouths to me.

Both of us look back at Luke, who is looking at Ashton with an upset frown.

"Am I not good enough for you?" Luke states to Ashton.

Ashton rolls his eyes. "You've been very welcoming, but I can't intrude on Sophie's and your life forever."

Luke scoffs. "What about bros before hoes?"

"Hey!" I splutter. "When exactly did I become a hoe?"

Luke looks terrified that he's pissed me off now. "I didn't mean it like that." Luke stammers.

I can hear Ashton chuckle beside me. Ashton walks over to Luke and gives him a quick 'bro hug'.

"You know id love to live with my bro forever. But that bro's married now." Ashton says softly.

They are literally the two most emotional men I've ever met.

Luke nods, then looks to Ashton and I. "So, you're living together." Luke states the obvious.

Ashton and I nod sheepishly. It feels like were under scrutiny from a disapproving father.

Luke just takes a big breath. "I have news too."

Ashton and I wait, looking at Luke while he seems to put words together.

"Calum's in jail." Luke finally breathes.

"What?" I splutter.

"What are you talking about, Luke?" Ashton says sharply, his chest rising. I can tell he is getting angry.

"Mali called me." Luke says quickly. "She said she was trying to get in contact with any of us. You two didn't answer your phones." Luke says with a slightly accusing tone.

"What happened?" I ask, ignoring Luke's disdain.

"He got caught selling drugs or something. It was a bit hard to understand Mali on the phone." Luke says. "She was a bit hysterical."

"I can imagine." Ashton says darkly.

"What's going to happen?" I ask.

Luke shrugs. "He's out on bail now." Luke explains.

I practically run to my purse, reaching for my phone.

"I wouldn't bother." Luke says as I start dialling Calum's number.

"He'll answer me." I say confidently. This was Calum. He was like family to me.

I put the phone to my ear and wait for his voice to answer. It goes straight to message bank.

I put the phone down, feeling defeated. I look over to Luke and Ashton, who are looking sadly at me.

"He will talk when he's ready." Ashton reassures me.

"I just don't want to lose another person." I say quietly.

The boys don't say anything, just stay in silence. I'm pretty sure I've said what we were all thinking.

"Come on." Luke says loudly, clearing his throat. "I'll make us some dinner."

Ashton and I nod, all starting to walk over to the kitchen in silence. I look to Luke and Ashton as they start to cook, rummaging through the cupboards and making a mess, smiles starting to reappear at their faces as they joke with each other. And I realise that they might be the only family I have left.

This was a pretty meh chapter. Idk. I hope you like it. I only wrote it in between waking up and going to work and I feel like it's kind of rushed. Anyway, I love you all, hope you guys are having a great 2015 so far :) xx
