Saturday morning, exhausted from yesterday's training, I slept a little more than usual. It was about 12 o'clock and by then I was wondering where my mother was to scold me for sleeping in and not start training.
With muscle pain, I sat up and looked around. I walked out of my room and trotted through the house to find it completely empty. "Huh?" I wondered loudly. "Where are they? Did mother force father to go grocery shopping with her?"
I walked to the kitchen and spotted a yellow note on the counter. I picked it up and read the fine and elegant writing.
'Tsuki dear,
Your father, Atsuko and I are out to meet your grandparents, so we are out of town the whole day. Only today you are allowed to skip training. See it as our present for you. Atsuko insisted to give you a present though, so be grateful.
Happy birthday,
-mom'
'What? Birthday? Is it today?' Surprised I looked at the calendar and it was indeed my birthday today. I bit my nail and glared at the date. I'm 13 now, it's the age where Ken'ichi became jonin... dang it and I'm still only a genin. Why am I still so weak? I touched my stinging eyes. "And these stupid eyes sting all the time... I hate it."
Shaking off the emotion that started to boil inside of me, I remembered the note that said that both my parents and sister had left for the day. 'I can only imagine Atsuko protesting about leaving...'
Then I noticed a small box on the kitchen counter, so I walked up to it and unwrapped the present. Inside of the box was a kunai with a pink ribbon on it. I sighed, knowing exactly who had put the ribbon around the weapon as it was obvious that my younger sister did that, so I layed it in my pouch and sat on a chair.
Suddenly the doorbell rang, interrupting my thoughts and I ran to the door. 'Who is it? They can't be home yet, right?' I opened the door and peeked out to see who it was.
There stood three idiots. A pink one, a blonde one and a raven one. 'What are they doing here?' "Hey Tsuki-chan. Happy birthday!" chirped the pinkette named Sakura.
"What are you doing here? And how do you know that today is my birthday?" I asked with a dumbfounded expression. Scratching his cheek and not looking at me, Naruto answered: "W-well, we heard from... uh... YEAH! Kakashi-sensei! He told us that today is your birthday! Believe it! We didn't sneak in the Hokage office and looked at the information papers about you!"
Sakura punched him on the head. "You idiot!"
Sweatdropping at Naruto's stupidy and Sakura's aggressiveness, I turned my eyes to the silent ravenette that sweatdropped at them too. We locked eyes and he turned his head slightly away and stretched his hand out, holding some kind of bag.
Confused I examined the bag. Sasuke noticed that and said: "Cake. We brought you cake and presents... For your birthday."
"Ah... thanks, but I don't-" I started but got cut off by Sakura, who intertwined her arm with mine.
"No! Not today! Today is a special day and we are going to celebrate it. How often do you become 13?" She said darkly pronouncing 'are' especially scary.
